Question Need Help with Cozumel

Any advice on excustions for Cozumel. We are beach people and on a budget so I was thinking the Beach Break but than we have 2 stops at Cast Away Cay and also a full day at the beach might be too much for DD 5 and DS3 if I hope to keep them up for Pirate Party.

I hear Cozumel is not great to do it anything on our own so I have not idea what to book.

Any advice for excusions with small kids?

Paradise Beach is free (pay for taxi ride). $10 pass for the day gives use of all "non-motorized water toys," but even these may be too much for your little ones.

WHy not get off at the port and walk around the shopping area a bit and then enjoy the pools and the empty ship...perhaps a short nap will keep everyone happier for the evening. I think if you did a full beach day that the little ones would sleep thru the pirate party.

There are EXCURSION REVIEWS linked in the DIS DCL FAQ thread linked in my signature. Each itinerary is listed with a link for each port. The reviews are for DCL excursions and also things that DISers have done on their own with links to the company sites that they used to book.

Paradise Beach or Mr Sanchos. We have been to both and its only a cab ride from the pier. The beach break excursions IMO are very expensive and very limited time at the beach.

Paradise Beach is friendly and both places have a restaurant, beach chairs and beach activities as well.

We are planning on going to Paradise beach on our Double Dip cruise in November.

Are you on the Nov 14 sailing on the Magic?

Yes we are on the Nov 14th cruise as well.

Is Cozumel safe to do something on your own with kids? Always here the stories about bad cabs etc.

We are on the Nov. 14th Double Dip as well. We are also booked for the Beach Break but we are now considering going to Paradise Beach as well. We are afraid that we won't have enough time to shop after getting back from the Beach Break. If we do Paradise Beach on our own we can head back to shop whenever we want to.

We have had no problems going to Paradise beach or anywhere in Cozumel.

Agreed on the shopping afterwards. We plan to get right off the ship and go to Paradise beach for a few hours/lunch and then head down town for a little shopping before going back to the ship. We have done this a few times in Cozumel with no issues. The only issue we had was coming back to the ship from Carlos & Charlies (before kids)

We loved Chankanaab and if you don't do the dolphin swim it's really cheap and only a 15 minute ride from the port!
Here's a link to the park's info and a coupon for a discount to get in!
http://www.cozumelparks.com/eng/parks-chankanaab.asp
We had such a great time there and we had kids ages 10, 6 and almost 2 with us! My kids talk about it all the time and we can't wait to go back.
If you have any questions about it please lmk!

The Chankanaab excursion sounds great. It mentions that you go to the beach first for snorkeling and sunny, then onto what sounds like a musuem.

Did you do the DSL excursion there and if so,do you mind telling me the itinierary?

We are going in April and I am trying to find something for family with 3 sons 12,10 and 15. They are interested in the Adventure park with ziplining, but I do not think I am up to that.

Thanks a brunch!

We went to Chankanaab on our own. We actually did the cheapest dolphin thing...the Encounter, as my younger 2 children were free, so we only had to pay for me, dh and ds-10y.o. I booked it on my own through their website. That being said we would have loved going there even without interacting with the dolphins. We can't wait to go back again and explore the rest of the park that we didn't have time for this last time. We were there from 10-3 and wished we'd gotten there earlier as it's a beautiful, natural type park. We love the outdoors and nature and are not into really commercial looking/feeling types of places.
We ended up mtg. up with a couple and their son from our disboards group and riding over with them in the van/taxi together.
Also a the port there are many neat kiosks and shops with affordable souveirs, many for only $1-2!!! I joked with my dh that after we got back on the ship I really should have gone back to the shops at the port and I could have spent only $50 and gotten all my Christmas shopping done for my entire family!
You actually pass the one zipline park on your way driving to Chankanaab.

Thanks for your response. Did you snorkel there? I like the idea of a nature park plus a little culture, then enjoying the beautiful water.

Fury Catamaran Sail, Snorkel and Beach

We loved this. Took a good sail, snorkeled for 45 mins (first time for me - loved it) then to the beach. The beach has water toys for kids and Dad's that think they are kids (slide, ice berg).

The staff was great.

We would do this excursion again - also open bar after snorkeling (beer, soda, and I think margerettas).

We did Playa Mia (Beach Break) on last Thanksgiving's double dip. We didn't feel like too much beach and my dh is not even a beach person. (Though we did jet ski in CC and dh parasailed too so maybe it that's why he didn't get bored.)

We did Playa Mia on our own and paid at the gate. It was around $13 pp + taxi fare. This didn't include any food/drinks which we later bought there. I forget what that price was as my dh and dad paid while I was in the water. They had traditional Mexican food and some American choices so even my picky ds found enough that he liked. (chicken nuggets, etc.)

The admission does include non motorized water sports so we floated around in some tubes for a while and kayaked. I saw others trying a small sailboat too. They have a freshwater pool and LOTS of hammocks and lounge chairs.

I will post some pictures.

Ds was stung by a jellyfish or something and they had a First Aid area and took care of it, spraying something on it and he felt better. I can't blame them at all; happens all over the world and just the chance you take going in any ocean.

btw, I skeeve dirty bathrooms but here I was thoroughly impressed. It was very modern and clean, much nicer than the facilities at CC.
