One more month until the National Gingerbread Competition at the Grove Park Inn!!

I have been working on my design for 2 months now, and it is now a good time to reveal my design for this year.

"Pear Tree Village" is a town, based on the song "The 12 Days of Christmas" and features all the elements in the song as something in the village.

The Partridge in a Pear Tree is the town gazebo
Two Turtledoves is a wedding chapel
Three French Hens is a bakery
4 Calling Birds is a phone booth
5 Golden Rings....a jewelry store of course!
6 Geese a Laying is a poultry shop
7 Swans a Swimming is the town lake, with swans
8 Maids A Milking is a Dairy Barn/Ice Cream Store
9 Ladies Dancing is a Ballet Studio
10 Lords A Leaping is a Fitness Center
11 Piper's Piping is a Pipe/Cigar Shop
12 Drummer's Drumming is a music store...shaped like a drum.

There are tiny sugar people inhabiting the town and even tinier accessories in each of the shops. It has been really fun figuring out how tiny I can make things, and how realistic I can get it to look.

It is in pieces right now, and the interior walls are currently being decorated. I will then decorate the outsides of all the buildings and finally put it together.

I will begin posting pictures in a day or so.

At this point in the game....no, I am not worried. The only way someone could copy the complexity of my design would be to work non stop for the next month.

The pictures I will post will also not reveal the entire design until just before the judging, as it will not be completely assembled until just before the day I deliver it.

If someone wants to try to take on this idea....more power to them!!!
