Just booked our first trip to Disney together!

My fiance Chris and I just booked our first trip to Disney together yesterday and we are so excited! Chris hasn't been since he was little, and I go with my family almost every year so I can't wait to show him everything. I am a medical student and he is a nursing student both at different schools, so we were really lucky that our spring breaks overlapped by 5 days this year. So we are going in April for 5 days staying at the POP, and its right around Easter so I am sure its going to be really busy, but thats okay!

We are getting engagement photos done while were there with Randy at the Grand Floridian and the Polynesian, so excited for that! We picked these two because we are getting married at the Wedding Pavillion and hopefully honeymooning in Hawaii. I also can't wait to show the WP to Chris!

I am planning our ADR's since we can start booking next week, anyone have any advice about them? We are hoping to get lunches at the Coral Reef and Mama Melrose's, and dinners at the California Grill, Kona (or Ohana instead maybe?), and Le Cellier. Also might do Planet Hollywood the first night since we get in pretty late and I want to go to Downtown Disney, but I dont think we'd need an ADR for that right?

Just wanted to share my excitement!

Yay how exciting!

I was in the same boat as your fiance when DF took me down with his family. I fell in love with it more than I could have imagined, and I'm sure Chris will too!

Have fun planning your trip!

Congrats Marissa!!

We got engaged in DW this past Aug. Some of the places your looking to eat at are great. I personally am not a fan of Planet Hollywood. Their everywhere, so I'd rather choose a place that's more DISNEY, you know? I'd also pick Kona over Ohana. We did Ohana, and if your looking for romance, that's not it. That place is very family oriented, LOTS of kids, loud and they serve you family style. There was NO way we could eat HALF of what they gave us. Kona is more intimate. LeCellier is AMAZING, I would also try and get Chefs de France, probably THE best food we ate on our trip. Also, we did a Romance Dinner at Artist Point, at the Wilderness Lodge, THE best service of the whole trip, food was FABULOUS! Just some ideas to kick around.

Good luck,

Chris

Thanks for your advice! Also how is Mama Melrose's? Never been, but I love italian food! It doesn't seem like there are too much options in this MGM. Or how about Sci Fi? Ive never been there, but it looks cool from pictures Ive seen however Ive read that the food isnt great. I dont really like 50's Prime Time. Thanks again!

Sooo right, NOT alot of choices at MGM. , never figure that out, as its' one of THE most popular parks? We did Hollywood Brown Derby for our ADR the night of Fantasmic! It was okay, service was very rushed, buffet style. I've heard good things about Mama Rosa, but never ate there. I have heard MANY great things about Tutto Italia at Epcot though...ALOT of raves about it in fact. On our next trip, next Oct, we won't be making ADR's for MGM, to me, just not worth the wait. I'd rather eat something quick and save my $$ for somewhere nice.

I've been to Sci Fi. It's a very cool theme, and the food was good. I loved my milkshake and I got mushrooms (delicious!) all over my burger. It was great. The only thing is I don't recommend going with more than two people because you sit in a car that stares forward (like a drive-thru), and it's difficult to talk to people in other cars if you're in a group. For two people, however, it's a ton of fun!

Fantasmic Package ADR?

Hi everyone! With ADRs coming up next week, I am confused again! So looking for bit more advice, if anyone could help that would be great! We are planning on going to DHS on Good Friday, Easter weekend. It seems like they have Fantasmic every day on holiday weekends so I am pretty sure they will have it, just not sure if we want to go or not? We were planning to go to DHS during the day, then leave the park and go to Kona for dinner and watch Wishes from the beach because I thought that would be romantic! However, we are planning on watching wishes from the Cali Grill the night before as well. But then I just heard about the Fantasmic dinner package I thought maybe we should do that instead (we were planning on Mama Melrose for lunch that day anyways) and stay for Fantasmic? I have seen it and love it, but Chris has not as its his first time at Disney! Which option would you do? We dont have time to do Kona another night, I just wish we had more time so we could do everything! Thanks again in advance!

I think you mean Hollywood & Vine. Hollywood Brown Derby is a signature restaurant and not buffet style. I just wouldn't want people that have never been to get confused.

Marissa - we love Hollywood Brown Derby. The food is really good and we've always had good service there as well. It's DF's favorite restaurant in MGM. I also like Sci Fi - I would do this for lunch though and get a burger and a shake. Never been to 50's PTC, but it's on our list for next time.

I have heard Mama Melrose is good, but we can get great Italian food at home, so I generally don't seek it out at Disney. Although Tutto Italia had awesome food, so I would recommend that!
