Wouldn't it be cool if... (seasonal overlay wishful thinking)

Wouldn't it be cool if the reason Storybook Land Canal Boats (SLCB) and Casey Jr. Railroad (CJRR) were closed for refurbishment until November 19th was because they were getting a Christmas overlay? Now, I'm not holding my breath for this, mind you! If that were really the case, the secret would have to have been much better kept than all of the "secrets" presented at the D23 Expo last month. I'm just saying, it would be a pretty cool addition to all of the other special touches at DLR during the holidays.

Though it probably won't happen, I'd also love to see Casey Jr. decorated for the holidays!

I'm 99% sure the little houses on the Storybook Land Canal Boats have had some Christmas decorations the past couple of years.....like little wreaths on the doors or something. I'll have to look through my pics to see if I have any of Christmas decorations. Hmmm.....I could very easily be wrong.

We've had fun DLR/DCA, we will miss you while we are gone. We took 14 trips from July 07-July 08 and around 16 from Jan 09-Jan 10.

That was the talk when the refurb dates were first announced (then suspecting the holidays would start Nov 20).

I just checked my pictures and I have a pic of the houses/village beneath Cinderella's castle that have little green pine wreaths and pine garland along the roof lines......and some tiny red bows. Not exactly a huge overlay, but very cute nonetheless. I have no idea how to post the pic or I would. (Its just on my computer and not online.)

Have a great, GREAT birthday/holiday trip. We're from the Sac area too, and will be there just before you. I can't wait!!!

I fell in love with DLR, whats not to love. Fantasyland, Toontown, Nemo and so much more. Both parks and DTD are full of little Disney touches that make it truly Walt's park. Mickey Pretzels, Mickey Gingerbreads, Mickey pancaks. Yummy. It is truly th

I'm glad to know other people were wondering the same thing! And thanks so much for letting me know about the miniature wreaths and decorations on SLCB. I'll definitely try to get a couple of photos for future reference.

I'm trying to envision what a decorated CJRR could look like. We ride the Polar Express trip out of Old Sacramento each Christmas and the cars are festooned with garlands and toys --the whole trip is pretty special. But, I bet Disney could kick up the attention to detail a few dozen notches.

We rode it last year during the holidays and all the little houses has Christmas trees with lights on them in their "yards". I have a few pics, but they are very blurry ... it's hard to take night pics in a moving boat, even if it's moving slowly.

Great thread.

It sounds like a night time ride on Storybookland (along with a daytime ride) is a "must do" during the holidays.

I agree! I can't wait to see the decorations. Both attractions have been closed long enough that they should be sparkling, if nothing else, by the time they re-open.
