Shipping items in Advance to Hotel Rooms?

Hi,

I have a question for anyone who has done this or has shipped things down to your room before arriving. Heres the deal my daughter is starting the Disney College program Feb 2010..We are flying down and the I am staying at the All Star Music resort for the first 5 days she is there to get her situated and a what not. Here is my question. I live in Upstate NY and we do not want to put her bedding and other items on the plane because I will have to pay for extra baggage. (exspensive). SO I want to ship down a couple of boxes to the ALL Star Resort in Advance so it is there when we arrive. How do I do this without a hotel room # ? Has anyone ever shipped something only to find it never showed up or got lost? How long will the hotel hold the items before I get there? And where do I pick up the packages once I arrive?
Please any help and information is greatly appreciated!

Helped solve the mystery of Edward's mipple. My parents were both hippies, and I turned out to be the responsible one. I squealed and then I squished it.

Address the packages:

Hold for guest: Your Name
Resort Name
Resort Address

When you check in let them know that you have packages on hold. They'll hold them for a week. Use Fedex or UPS, and insure the packages.

The last two times we've gone, we have shipped our stuff rather than take luggage.

Sounds insane, but we have 4 kids and it is easier handling everyone with 2 small carry on bags with a change of clothes for emergencies. EVERYTHING else goes UPS. Then, we box it all back up on our last day, concierge came and got it. Few days later, it gets home.

I will say this, get a STURDY box. Both times our boxes have been beat up. The first time, the box was less than sturdy and we hd to tape that baby for the return trip.

From the PO Box it is sorted into sections and then specific locations before it is delivered out to property. This can take quite a bit of time.

UPs, Fed Ex, DHL, any kind of courier service will deliver directly to the hotel. My suggestion would be to get the package ready and send it out about 7 days prior to your arrival (you can send it further out if you like they will hold it). If you give yourself enough time you can ship it ground service which is the cheapest.

As for who to address it to you would want to address it like this:

The name of the person who is the LEAD name on the reservation (may not be you, but it is easier to find that way)
C/O the hotel you are staying at/ Front Desk
The address of the hotel
And put HOLD for guest check in and the date (you can put the res # too if you want, but it is not really needed).

So it would look something like this

John Smith
C/O Disney's Wilderness Lodge Front Desk
Hold for guest arrival 4/02
901 Timberline Drive
Lake Buena Vista, Fl 32830

Here is a list of the resort address' (again this can ONLY be used for courier services, US Post office will not deliver to the property directly)
