What kind of walk is it to DS from Epcot? I was thinking, since they have added an extra Fantasmic! to the schedule, that we might walk over to see the show after dinner.

It would probably take about 15 minutes or so to do the walk. Maybe a little longer if you have little ones. In addition to walking, you can also take the boat (which will make stops at the EPCOT area hotels on the way).

It's a pretty good hike. Not so much from the BW area to Epcot but from DS to BW is a decent walk. For an old guy like me, it would probably be at leat 30 minutes. I boat, at least to S/D and then walk, or boat all the way if tired.

One year, I decided we just had to get to DHS to see Osborne Lights. So, we left Epcot WS, rushed over to BWV to grab a sweatshirt, then 'walked' to DHS. I made the entire trek, from the International Gateway to DHS turnstiles, in 18 mins. I was completely out of breath and close to dead, but I got there with about 10 mins to spare before DHS closed for the night. We were cranking though.
Normally, I would say it takes about 25 mins total. I do know that last Dec my friend and I were going to take the boat from the Intl Gateway to DHS, but it was just closing the doors and throwing off the lines. They joked with us when we told them we would beat them to DHS. We got to BW at about the same time...they may have beat us by about 30 seconds. But, since the boat had to then go to YC/BC, then S/D, before heading to DHS, we beat them. They were just coming around the bend in the canal as we got to bag check. But, we were walking at a fairly good clip...which the two of normally walk at. |

I think I'd walk to the BC/YC dock and take the boat to DHS. We've done BWV to DHS (and vice versa) walking, and that's long enough for me after a day in the park.

From gate-to-gate it's about 1 1/3 miles. Figure 25 minutes for typical families.
If you want to walk part of the way, it makes sense to walk to the Beach/Yacht dock and take the boat from there. Or to get a bit more exercise, walk to the Swolphin dock. |

Later that trip, my oldest son and I decided to walk to DHS after having dinner at Cape May Cafe. We were going to work off the calories and show that boat who was boss.

Great link. I love Mouse Steps! We often walk just to stretch our legs after being in line after line, and to get away from the crowds. We can beat the boat if we want to, but we would rather hold hands and enjoy a nice walk. And cutting through the pool area of Boardwalk helps- especially since I walk really fast past the clown spitting out kids.

It takes the boat about 25 mins to make the complete loop, from DHS to Epcot (or the reverse). It takes about 20 mins to make the walk. The time I just about ran to DHS, and made it in 18 mins, I also stopped for a sweatshirt in my BWV room...so that added a few minutes. Thank heaven it was just down the stairs and onto the pathway to DHS from that room!!
But, the majority of the time, it is going to take about 20 mins to make the walk, at a regular pace. Those with little ones or that want to walk more sedately, will have longer times which will closely mirror the boats. |

That's the way our Sunday of Thanksgiving weekends always are. We leave BWI for HS - Fantasmic dinner package, Fantasmic, Osborne Lights, rush to EPCOT for last Candlelight Processional and then Illuminations. LOTS of walking - well worth it! DH and I generally step up our walking program a few weeks before a Disney trip so we are ready.....much to the delight of our little terrier!! |

Once you get to DS, the walk into Fantasmic feels pretty long to us. If you have little kids, I would probably take the boat from Epcot to give little legs a rest.
