December Shoes for the World?

I have a pair of flip-flops that I wore last time I went, but on some nights my little toes were freezing. Hence, I need some closed shoes for this trip. I know many people wear sneakers, but I have never been comfortable in them. Has anyone ever tried walking the World in Uggs? If not, do you have any other fall/winter shoes you can recommend?

Thanks!

I haven't tried Disney in UGGS , but I have done a local themepark. While my feet were warm, there was NO support and I had tremendous foot pains after about 3 hrs of walking in them..I don't recommend them for the parks.I am wearing sneakers, or Crocs.

I'm wondering the same thing. Our last trip was in Jan/Feb and I wore tennis shoes. I didn't find them to be that comfy. I guess I'm addicted to flip flops and winter shoes confuse me. They were a big problem on Kali River Rapids, too!

Wet tennis shoes + Cold Temps. = Misery

I would love to hear what others wear...especially for Kali when it's cold.

I wear flip/flops just about the whole time---I'm from MI, so even when it's cold, it's not cold---kwim? I have worn Crocs a few times. I don't like the regular ones, but I love the Mary Janes. I'm not a tennis shoe person either.

I'm wondering what kind of shoes I'll be able to wear in November...I don't know what kind of weather to expect down there! I'm already wearing my Uggs here in CT. When I was supposed to go in September, I stocked up on Crocs and flip flops, now I'm wondering if I'll get any use of out of them!

It can be cold in Orlando in November and December. One year, it was 40 degrees at 8 am and didn't get above 65. Another year, it got up to 75 or 80 most days. I wear running shoes, which have a lot more support than regular sneakers. I would invest in a good pair of running shoes, then bring flip flops to put on for Kali River rapids (they will fit in your purse or in a back pack). Have fun!!!!

That's probably what we'll end up doing for that day.

I have a pair of keens that are brown lace up shoes. They are so comfy and I will wear them and running shoes. On Kali I will just take some flip flops to wear.

I am a flip flop girl too.
I get pains in my feet from sneakers
This past Feb the weather was crazy, warm some days 60's-70's, freezing
some nights 40's. I wore my uggs one night, and I did ok.
One day in Epcot it was in the mid 70's so flip flops during the day but I found these great socks that were made to wear with flip flops!
They were either in China or Japan & that night they sure did help.
I see now that you could probably get them elsewhere.
With long jeans and it being dark I didn't look too dorky

Thanks for asking the question - I very rarely wear a shoe that has a "closed" back. My preference is a flip flop style because there isn't anything 'squeezing' my foot across the top or irritating it on the heel. We are going to WDW the last week of December, and I don't know what to wear on my feet. Looking forward to hearing other responses to this question.

I will probably take my Fit Flops and some Ugg boots. The Uggs are one of the only 'enclosed' shoes that I am actually comfortable wearing.

Wow, thank you all so much for the responses! It seems people are split between sneakers and other shoes similar to Uggs.

Most of the time I just wear my Reef flip flops, which really are the best for my heels, because as some of you have mentioned, backs and enclosures really irritate my feet.

For some reason, I've just never been able to wear sneakers. The way the back is commonly constructed just kills my heel. So, based on responses, it seems like Uggs might be my best option.

Keep the opinions coming. Thanks!

Talking Thanks for the smile this morning

OP, I am not laughing at you but with you I am having this same dilemma about shoes for our Jan trip. We always go in early Sept and I wear Keens or Tevas. I have been bumfuzzled about what to wear when the temps are low because I do not do sneakers/althletic shoes well at all.

Anyway, it made me chuckle a little to read this thread, just knowing that I'm not the only one

I am thinking of some of the new Crocs (enclosed on both ends) but not sure if they would be warm enough without socks or comfortable enough with socks????

Going in the winter months has me starting from scratch as far as our clothes/shoes/packing goes

We always travel December / January and dare I tell you what I will be wearing again???? oh ok then I feel I am among friends.

I wear my Crocs and then if I get chilly I put some socks on!!! I know that it looks ghastly to some, but I will be comfortable and 3500 miles from home and anyone who knows me so who cares!

We are going in Dec and I will be wearing running shoes or walking shoes with a really good support built in. I do like my crocs but mostly for short trips and with socks. I know that is not most people's preference but I find them uncomfortable any other way. I have issues with my feet including bone spurs n my heels and a neuroma in one foot so I need the support from sneakers. I also don't go on KRR as I do not like getting soaked, even in the summer.
