EMH at MK till 2AM - Am I Crazy???

Okay, I think I may need someone to talk some sense into me. We will be at WDW Dec 18-23 (Me, DH & DS-10). On the 20th I was thinking about spending all day at DHS, seeing Fantasmic at 6:30pm (and eating a CS dinner while sitting outside waiting to get in - anyone ever done that?) and then heading over to MK for 9pm Spectromagic, 10pm Holiday Wishes Fireworks, then EMH 11pm-2am.

Now I'm starting to think that maybe I've lost one too many brain cells over the years and/or have gone temporarilly insane. I'm wondering if it might be better to skip Fantasmic and go back to the hotel to freshen up, have a nice dinner somewhere, then head over to MK for Spectromagic. I like Fantasmic and DS does not remember seeing it the last time we were there, so I hate to miss it.

On the other hand, am I nuts for thinking about going to the late EMH at MK? Do people with kids actually stay that late???

We tried staying till 2am last time we were there. It was overkill. We were falling asleep in the lines, and then my one friend actually did fall asleep on the Tommorowland Transit thing. We were at the park at 11am, decided to do it all in one night with the EMH, and by midnight, we were so tired and crancky that at one point we all started fighting with each other before deciding to turn in and never do it again.

But thats just us. If you go back to the hotel to freshen up and chill out for a bit, then you may be able to do it. One good thing was that wait times were minimal, so you can actually do alot in those few extra hours.

We stayed until about 1:30 with teens and my two grandchildren 4 and 6. They were also from CA so their time was really screwed up. We did go to the hotel for about 2 hours during the day and we ate dinner at CRT. That was early in our trip tho. Don't know if we could have done it on day 5 or 6.

I LOVE EMH at MK! Staying until 2AM is the best. Most people start going home and you can ride things over and over again. I make it a point to go to MK on those days. I say go for it!

We were at MK last Sunday and were going to try to stay for EMH. We didn't have any kids with us but it was our first day. We were at the airport that morning at 4:30 (5:30 Eastern time). About 10:00 we were toast. If you and your party get plenty of rest the night before or get back to the room in the afternoon to rest I say go for it. My favorite time in MK is late during EMH.

The year we went Thanksgiving week, MK was open til 3am if I remember correctly. DS had recently turned 9, and we went from early that morning til 3am. No complaints out of him and we had a great time. We hit more than one park that day, and I do remember eating dinner at O'Hana's, so we did have some down time. But, for the most part, it was go go go all day. We were able to go on so many rides that night. We had the Photopass photographer take our pic on the way out of the park. It's our "We made it til 3am" pic! Would we do it over again? Absolutely!

We stayed until 3 am on Christmas Eve 2007. It was relatively busy until about 1 or so, but at 3 a.m. we had the place to ourselves. We were adults and teens who are all nightowls and had a ball.

We were visiting our son who was doing the college program. It was the last day he could get his in with his passes before the holiday blockout began. We did three park days that trip and did the evening EMH one until it closed all three days. We then slept until noon the following day since poor CP kid had to work until about 2. He was going in at 6 a.m., so, of course, he did leave the parks well before we did.

I say, go for it.

Sounds like a bit of a long day to me for most adults let alone a child. You know your child best though. If he can handle all that then go for it.

Personally, all day like that would be too much for me. How about spending the day relaxing...sleep in, or take a mid-afternoon nap, and then do everything else you planned (Fantasmic and then MK). I don't think anything is better than evening EMHs! Have fun!

Summer of '07 we did EMH at MK until 0200. We had our six year old daughter with us, and had a fantastic time. It was a little tiring, but was really neat to almost have the park to yourself. It's one of those memories I will cherish forever. She was a real trooper about it. My profile pic is from that night, as we were leaving.

I think it depends on your schedule. At home I never go to bed before 2:00 AM, so I could easily do that, but I wouldn't be at rope drop that morning!

Last Spring Break we did a very late EMH. It was the first full day of our (Mom, me, sister and bro in law) trip that started with rope drop at DHS where we stayed til about 2pm if I recall. We then went back to the hotel to freshen up and had dinner at WCC, took the boat to MK for some attractions, Spectromagic and Wishes. After Wishes my Sis and BIL took the bus back to the resort by my Mom and I stayed and rode BTMR, Splash Mountain, Pirates and I think Haunted Mansion before we decided to call it a night at 1am. We definitely did not get back to parks the next day until around lunch time, but we had a blast.
