Deluxe Resort Surroundings

I hope this isn't a silly question but I've been wondering - do Deluxe Resorts have any 'grounds' to walk through?

I know Poly does as we've gone to the Luau but what about the others? After staying at two mods, where I will admit I like walking down the paths to the food court or to check out the other sections of the resort, we stayed at AKL last December. I loved the feel of being there but missed not having anywhere to really go once you were there, except out to the small area at the back of the lobby.

I guess I'm trying to decide if I'm just an oddity and I'm meant to stay at mods but I love to try new resorts and the ones with access to Epcot or close to MK certainly sound appealing.

Thanks!!

We're like you...part of the charm of the moderates to us is walking around the resort and enjoying the outdoors. That was one of the favorite parts of the Poly to us. The only other deluxe we stayed at is the CR and there is not much walking on the outside there from what I remember. My guess...and it's only a guess since I've not stayed at any of the others and we've not visited a deluxe in a couple of years (with the exception of the AKL, the Poly and the WL), is that the Beach Club/Yacht Club and the Boardwalk would probably have areas to walk outside and, especially, the Boardwalk with all of the activities on the Boardwalk.

WL also has a lot of walkable areas itself, and you can walk from WL to Ft Wilderness, which is a fantastic walk. Then you can spend loads of time walking around Ft Wilderness.

This is what I loved about SSR. I walked the grounds every morning and loved how beautiful and peaceful it was. I ended the walks with a dip in the hot tub behind the slide or in a rocking chair in front of Artists Palette with coffee. With that said I loved the CR grounds too. We walked all around the garden wing building and beach area where it was so peaceful although walking to MK took the cake!

There's more walkable area down by the main pool at AKL, and some additional wildlife viewing spots.

The grounds vary by resort; the multiple-building resorts like GF and Poly are a bit more spread out and have more grounds to explore. WL is also good for walking, and there's even a mile-long path to Fort Wilderness. All of the Crescent Lake resorts are very walkable, you can walk around the lake and explore BW, YC/BC, and Swan/Dolphin

And, of course, SSR and OKW are sprawling resorts with loads of paths and roadways to walk along.
