Fruit for children?

We are going down in November and I am worried about getting my 15 mont old fruit. She loves grapes, strawberries, melon, banana...etc. I checked out the Garden Grocer and their prices are really high. What do you do for fruit for your children? Do you just purchase it in the park? Do you pack it with you on the plane? Or in your suitcase? Any advice would rock! TIA.

You can buy fruit all over. Most resturants have a fruit plate, you get grapes with kid's meals and you can buy single pieces and even little fruit bowls at snack carts. The resorts also sell fruit bowls.

Where are you planning to eat? Especially when our kids were little, we did a lot of character buffets (where they eat free) and there were always TONS of great fruit choices.

They also have a lot of fruit cups, etc. available at all the CS locations as well as at snack carts.

We are doint the dining plan, for the first time, so all of our ADR's are already done, but can you use your snack credit to buy a fruit cup?

All of those fruits do not pack well and they have short shelf lives. I owuld not recommend bringing them with you.

With Garden Grocer's delivery fee and the base price for the fruit, you would probably do just as well by purchasing the fruit bowls that the PP mentioned. That way you won't have to worry about storing, transporting or spoilage.

The kids meals come with fruit, if you ask for a substitution without fries. The problem with that is that in most parks all they had were grapes. There are fruit stands in the parks that sell whole fruit, cut up fruit, and such.

I agree!
I would not try to pack fresh fruit and I found it in every restaurant in the world we went to! True, sometimes it was only grapes, but we stayed at POP and in the food court, fresh fruit could be considered a "dessert" and you could also use a snack credit for it on the Dining Plan.

Have fun!

you should be able to substitute fruit for desserts on CS meals with the dining plan. that's what we always did. as pp's mentioned, kids' meals come with grapes, and you can also buy fruit with snack credits. the buffet character meals have several types of fruit available-apples, bananas, grapes, pineapple, melon, etc. unless you're driving down, i wouldn't recommend packing fruit. i bring fruit, but i'm only driving from NE alabama and have a cooler to keep it in during my stay.

There is WHOLE fruit all over the place. We bought Bananas in AK and MGM(HS)
Apples in Epcot and MK. (actually the MK was probably the hardest to find just whole fruit items in a cart- they did have stuff available in the quick service restaurants.)
We weren't thrilled with the "apple" deserts offered- sliced mushy and my kids didn't go for them. They prefer just an APPLE. So we were thrilled when we were able to find them in carts all over the place.

Most the time too at buffets, waiter's will let you take a piece of fruit to go, especially if it's already at the table.

You can get apples, bananas, and oranges at the carts around the parks, usually 99 cents a peice.
grapes or apple sauce comes with kids meals.
Regular TS, a fruit cup is one of the options with the kid's meal.
Buffets have a huge selection of diced up fruit. Plus usually bananas. And they serve it all day too.

So you can ask at CS or TS if they can just sell you a side of fruit. Although they might just let you have it. And if you're going to the Christmas party, they hand out hot chocolate and cookies, but as a kid's option, they give apple juice and apple slices (pre-packaged). So as you make your way around the park, stock up on them... it's free.

My kids ate more fruit at WDW than they ever did at home. There are so many varieties that you can't go without fruit..unless you tried. My kiddos ate grapes, strawberries and melon everyday...not to mention bananas, apples and oranges and pineapple many times during the week.

I agree with all the other posters but there is another delivery option. wegoshop.com
you tell them where to shop and they go get what you want. You can even put a price limit on the items and if they are more expensive than your price point they will just not get them. You pay actual cost plus a delivery fee and then a tip.
I found walmart prices to be very good for all the things we needed and I got a weeks worth of breakfasts, fruit, water, diapers, snacks and soda for 6ppl and it was less than $100 after a $20 tip.

There is fruit available in the parks and resorts. They come with the kids meals and you can also use snack credits for them. We always use up our snack credits long before we leave due to the fruit choices. It is also much easier to buy as you go, since most of it ends up a mushy mess in the bottom of the bag if you try to take it with you.
