'09 Honda Odyssey Question
We just bought our Odyssey in March and we LOVE it. I just have a few questions about the brakes and or transmission.
Just wondering if it is normal or something wrong. I find that when we slow down to 30 mph it kinda slows down really quick, like it down shifts to fast. Also with the brakes when I am slowing down it seems to skip or pulsate (not sure how to spell it). Is this normal? Or is this part of the electronic breaking system? I hope these questions make sense. I do a lot of city driving and this is when I notice it most.

My 09 doesn't always gear down hard when I slow down, but sometimes it does. The brakes will occasionally seem to pulsate when I am braking. Go to odyclub.com and this incredible bunch of people will answer your question pronto. It is a forum for Odysey owners and where I go to get my answers.

We have an '09 Odyssey that we also got in March. I called to make an apt at the dealership to have the oil changed tomorrow and they said they would do the recall also. Apparently, a recall was just issued a day or so ago. The recall has something to do with a transmission sensor.

Thanks again for the replys. I was thinking of trying to test drive another new model just to see if it was just our van that acted this way or if they all do. So thank you! Again, I love our van and the room. I would recommend to everyone.

One more question: I believe we have a 20 gallon gas tank. I have been on empty before but have only been able to put in 16 - 17 gallons of gas in at the MOST! Is that normal?

I think when your light comes on, you still have 3-4 gallons left. My old Odyssey (2000) the light came on with 5 gallons left. I have put almost 19 gallons in my new (09) Odyssey once. I try not to let it get that low. I was a bit worried I wouldn't make it to the gas station!

A second vote for odyclub.com - and if there are any Sienna owners browsing, there is siennaclub.org for you
As far as the gas gauge, our old van did the same thing with the idiot light for gas coming on with 5 gallons left. The most I ever put in at once was 16 gallons! I couldn't stand the light being on, but I could have gone lots further if needed. Now our gas gauge is malfunctioning badly and comes on with 7 or 8 gallons left, and it never shows full...time to hope over to odyclub and see if anyone else has this problem, and how to fix. Good luck with the tranny and brake questions. This was my first new vehicle, and I did buy the extended warranty. I know that is ill-advised, but my $950 warranty bought me a new $3400 transmission, as well as various other smaller items throughout the first 100K with my 2nd generation Oddy!

Check Honda's website. I didn't know about it until I scheduled the apt. this week. I said that I didn't receive anything yet in the mail. He told me that the recall just happened a few days ago. So, we lucked out, as far as not having to take it back.
