We are sailing in 2 wks and would like to do Coral World Marine Park~~however it is booked online---just wondering if anyone has done this excursion on their own~~~w/out disney~~checked out their website and the prices are alot cheaper and they offer things that are not part of the disney option~~~Any opinions would be great!!!

There are reviews of those who have done this excursion on their own in the DIS DCL FAQ thread under the heading EXCURSION REVIEWS. There is a link for each port. There is a discount ticket on their website too.

We've done it on our own; it is EASY. There are cabs at the pier that will take you and it seems there are always cabs waiting to take you back. If not, the people in the gift shop or snack bar will call one for you. There are sometimes on line coupons at their web site as well as in the tourist info magazine you can get free at the pier.
The other advantage of doing it on your own is that Coral World is right across the parking lot from Coki beach--a free, very family friendly beach. You will get an arm band at Coral World allowing you to go in and out to use the facilities if needed. You can take towels from the ship (remember to return them). OK, it may not be the BEST beach in the world, but it's nice. |

Listen to Kcashner. She is absolutely correct! Just ask the taxi driver how long they are going to wait before they leave. They were big taxis that could hold a lot of people and the drivers tend to wait to try to fill it up.
It was very easy though and we did the Sea Lion Swim. The review is in the FAQ thread. |

We did it...very easy...on the way there they guy charged $27 for four of us and on the way back they guy charged $36. It was easy to do on your own and I would do it again. We didn't have time to go to the beach but it did look very pretty.
