A CM STOLE CREDIT CARD NUMBERS-Who to call?

On a recent stay at SSR for a GG my SIL and her mother both had their CC numbers stolen. I need help knowing who to contact at Disney. We already handled the credit agencies and the bank but wanted to be sure Disney was notified because it will keep happening. Each time my SIL calls she gets transferred to a recording. When she finally got ahold of the hotel manager directly he transferred her to security who told her that she "needed to contact her bank but thanks for her time" and ended the call.
The cards were new accounts not activated until they checked in at the resort and then the cards went into the safe and never again saw the light of day after check in. They both still have the cards in their possesion and we are now back in MI. All of the charges were in FL. The credit agency says this happens in places like Disney where they can make copies of your cards for room keys or KTTW cards. The employee will just make another copy and that card can be used at gas stations or anyplace that takes a magnetic strip.
If anyone has the contact info for an appropriate Disney official that would be great. TIA for your help.

Did you use the particular credit card to book the trip online? Key Loggers are the #1 virus nowadays, and they are next to impossible to detect by the average computer user.

I stayed at SSR at the end of April and the same thing happened to me. The only time I used my card was at T Rex restaurant. My bank caught it immediately and put a hold on my card until I called the bank so disaster was diverted. Now I am thinking. Did I give the card to the resort??????

Call the Disney switchboard at 407-824-2222. They can most probrably direct you to a supervisor of operation at the resorts which most likely deals with this stuff.

Personally I think you are wasting your time. You can't prove anything and the credit card company will just write it off. Disney will do nothing because there is nothing they can do. If they get stung, they just write it off as well.

It seems you are the only one who cares.

First off, don't call! Write a letter. A paper trail is always your best bet. CC the letter to more than one location. Send it to Disney:

Walt Disney World Guest Communications
PO Box 10040
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830-0040

Then send a copy to SSR. You'll be surprised how quickly someone from SSR will call you when they get a "copy" of a letter that you sent to a main office of their company. I've sent typed letters to this address several times and have always gotten a call. Most of the time my letters are about positive experiences, but rarely do send a letter about negative issues too. A phone call can be related differently throughout the chain and there is no record of your complaint. So PLEASE complain about this happening. Someone needs to stop this abuse.

I think the OP's intent was to notify someone with authority at Disney so they could keep an eye out for this sort of behavior. I'm sure they have already disputed the charges with their cc company. I didn't get the feeling that they were trying to get Disney to do anything else.

It is important that companies know of cc issues like this. I have seen several reports (none at Disney) on the news of hotels having groups of employees doing this. If it were me, I would contact the Orange County Sheriff Department and see about filing a report with them as well.

With the economy the way it is, I think we'll see more of this type of thing, in more places. It really pays to be vigilant.

I have to agree. They might not be able to prove anything, but if 50 different people who stayed at SSR (as in this example) called and said the same thing, and Disney identified that the same CM checked every person in, well that might at least be a starting point, I would say. Even if the OP or even the other 49 hypothetical people get nothing from it, it could get a bad apple off the staff.

Has anyone thought to call the police? If there are that many of you that have stayed at that resort and have had that problem, maybe someone other than Disney needs to be notified. Just a thought.

The only way to stop CC abuse is never to use them. It happens everywhere. Someone that works for our bank stole ours.

Did you fill out a police report, if not that is the first step, then as someone suggested write a letter.

You absolutely need to call the police in a situation like this.

Ditto the others, you need to call the police. The only way that anything can be done about fraud here in Florida is if it is determined to be a crime, the only way that it can be a crime is if a police report is submitted. Once there is a police report, if anything came to light they would be able to press charges. Call the Orlando police department and at least get someone to record your statement.

What do you want them to do? keep watch? who's gonna watch? what are they supposed to watch? Just imagine how much information passes through Disney World.

It's easy to say do something but why should they bother? The CC companies don't care, why should Disney?

It's the cost of doing business.

I worked in a big resort like disney and it is not true that we don't care about things like this, it is the opposite it is a big deal. It is easy to track if it was actually done in the resort. We have cases like this come up and every time we caught the employee who did it. There are a lot of cases where it wasn't our fault and the people got there information other ways. Who is going to watch it is up to the managers to know and make sure our guest are safe.

Um, it's fraud and it's theft and it's illegal. Disney should take these reports seriously and once it is found through the police or the bank exactly who it was who made the fraudulent charges, Disney will be notified if in fact one of their employees is a thief. I am sure Disney as an employer would take action against the employee. Disney does not want a reputation of keeping employees who are accused of theft of their guests. And the police won't laugh at you. It is their job to take theft reports like this everyday.
So in Buffalo, NY the police laugh at theft reports? I sure wouldn't want to live there.
