family portrait at disney
hi all,
dh and i are taking our son to WDW in january. he will be 7 months old then. i would love to have some nice pictures taken of us on his first trip to the world. i know i can just use the photopass photographers to take pics of the three of us but i'd like something a little more professional. i've seen posts about disney photographers but i can't find them. do you have any recommendations? or, should i just save the $$ and use photopass? thanks!!

When we had our "family gathering" last year for my parents' 50th wedding anniversary, we contracted with Disney Photography to do a regular photo session with us. There was a sitting fee, and we had a Disney Photographer for about 60-90 minutes. She took over 100 photos of us in various groups (there were 16 of us in four 'families').
We were able to choose our location on site (can't remember if the parks were included in the locations) and ended up at the Grand Floridian. She did inside and outside photos. After the session, my parents got a bound book in the mail with all the proofs. All the photos were on line for us to view, and tons of options to choose for prints. I know my parents ended up getting a 16x20 of the whole family, and the rest of us got 11x14's or 8x10's. What was nice about this versus the photopass was that there were a lot of different options available for special effects or retouching that I don't think you can get with the photopass. The pictures are true 'portraits'.

When we go down to Disney World we schedule with the photographer we used for our Disney wedding, Randy Chapman from Chapman Photography. We have done photo shoots at different resorts. In general the outside vendors can't do an official photo shoot in the parks. When we were married we had the option of getting a Magic Kingdom photo shoot with the Disney Photography. You could probably call Disney Fairy Tale Weddings for that information, to see if you can buy that package for a family shoot, I believe it was around $800. We had EPCOT pictures as well but I am not sure about the other parks. Otherwise we love taking pictures at the resorts it is fun walking around and having someone snap pictures of you.
