Wink Call me Stupid: What is Photo Pass?

The title says it all. I know Photopass is a system that Disney has for CM's to photograph guests at certain areas of the parks. But, how does it work? I have read about a discount for photopass for party goers to MVMCP which I have tix to on Dec. 15th. How does that work?
Thanks for any info to this "stupid" man!

WE LOVE PHOTOPASS!

We get to a park and get a card right away. You get them from any photography in any of the parks. They are found usually in the entry areas, in front of the castle, hat (MGM), etc... Sometimes they will be at a character signing. We always load up on the photos. It always us to bring our small pocket size camera. (Not our big large lens cannon). I love pictures and to scrapbook. We buy the CD at the end of the trip. They take all the photos on your "card card size photopass id card". It's free to have them take all the photos you want. The only thing you pay for is if you want any prints or to buy the CD. We buy the CD so we have the rights to the pictures. Then we can make any size or as many as we want at Walmart. (Plus having the CD allows me to order prints our last night over the internet. Then when we land we stop at walmart on the way home. Then we get to show off our photos right away and I save lots of money. Since we take tons of pictures)

Hope this helps a little.

Helpful hint: if you do decide to use photopass either take a picture of the photopass card you are given by the CM or text the number to yourself so you have it incase the card is lost. You don't need the actual card just the number to enter into the online system or at the park/hotel kiosk. This way you don't lose the pics.

O.K. you're stupid, just kidding. Hey if everyone knew everything about Disney there would be no need of a discussion board like this.

Just want to add, always ask to take a picture with your camera as well, they do not have problem with it, then you can upload your pictures to photopass, you can customize your pictures almost the same way you do photopass pictures and ordering those will be 20c instead of $15 for photopass pictures(numbers are appr. but got the idea)

Stupid.

Kidding of course. That is a legitimate question.
You have some good responses above.

If you want to pre-order, you can use this: http://www.passporterboards.com/foru...pre-order.html

If I pre-order what does the 40% discount I get from MVMCP do for me? Or am I just not getting the consept?

Hey Michaeldorn,

The 40% off is specifically for MVMCP and MNSSHP. I believe that is applied to prints only.

If you pre-purchase using that link, it is a discount on the CDs and/or Photobook. Once you have the CDs in hand, you can get the prints anywhere (still cheaper than 40% off at WDW) or even print them at home.

Oh, so the $99 discount gets me full access to all of the pics. But, then I still have to purchase the individual pics w/ either the Disney 40% discount for the MVMCP pics only. Or print them at any photo processing store (think Walgreens or Walmart) or print at home on my own computer for free. Does this sound correct?

I'm thinkig the 40% discount was only for the holiday prints. At one point you also had to buy them the same night, but maybe they no longer do it that way. I alos know that if you have aDISney Visa, hey used to ahve a place in Epcot you could go for free photo, but it was kind of time consuming (it took us well over an hour to get our free print) Again, you had to pick it up in the park before you left Epcot that same day.

The one thign that's cute about photopass is that you can add borders. You can also have a photosession done if you want nice family phtots taken. I think doing that is like $50 for the session, plus the cost of pics. Again you can add those to your CD. So I think potentially that is a good deal if you want to take time from your vacation to do that. Like if you wanted holiday photos it could be great.

We generally don't find the CD worth our while as we have a digital camera, but sometimes I will buy a print, and add border to a few of our prints.

If you are using Photopass, it takes time to wait for the photopass person sometimes - like for a photo in front of the castle. Other times it is no extra wait if you are seeing a character already. STill other times their might not be a photopass person at all. There are no photopass people typically at the character meals, for example. Still, they sometimes take really cute shots of your whole group and know how to angle them just right.

One more thing - and I'm not expert - if you get the CD,and want to print photos at Walmart or whereever - and NOT get 5x7 size, hen you should make apoint of markig that when you order the CD. I think you have to reques to have them saved as 4x6's. I haven't done this, but I've heard folks here say somethign to that effect.

Photopass also sells all kinds of other stuff too - like calendars, mugs, etc.

The $99 pre-order will allow you to place all of the Photopass pictures on a CD(s) which will be mailed to you.

Once you have that CD it is yours to do what you would like with it.

The photos at MVMCP are sold at 40% off as long as you purchase them on the night of the party. If you choose not to purchase them, you will have them on the CD to print later.
