How do you handle eating breakfast if you have young kids with you??
We are going in DW staying at WL from 11/30-12/7. It's me, DH and DS (3). We are usually awake at home by 7am at the latest, so making RD each day won't be an issue!
** I originally posted this in a different forum but thought maybe it would be better here ![]() We have breakfast reservations 2 of our days but the other days where we are going to the parks.. how do you handle eating breakfast? Do you eat in the room? Do you have a sitdown at your resort? CS at the resort (do they even have CS breakfast at WL??). Do you bring food from home? We don't have a fridge in our room so we will need to figure out how to handle milk/juice in the morning... I don't want to waste time once we are in the parks to stop and eat breakfast.. but I can't seem to figure out the best way to do this If it was just DH & I we'd grap some mini-muffins and eat those on the way to the parks but DS will need something more substantial (like cereal bar + a banana + milk or something similar). Any thoughts/ideas? |

we generally eat in the room - either DH or I would run down to the quick serve place and get individual servings of milk, juice, coffee & fruit. We generally bring some type of breakfast bar with us. They did have a CS place @ WL when I was there - Roaring Forks, I think.

I might be wrong but I thought all deluxes have complimentary fridges in the room.
We usually eat in the room. I bring granola bars and pop-tarts (not so healthy I know). The CS eatery at WL will have some breakfast selections and you should be able to get a variety of food items for your room from the gift shop at WL. http://allears.net/acc/faq_wl.htm |

DS7 but 5 on first trip. We brought nuts/dried fruit, mini muffins, granola bars, and brought horizon milk cartons. The milk cartons don't have to be in the fridge so at night we just put ice in ice bucket with milk so it was cold in the morning. We carried breakfast to bus stop and ate there or carried to park while we waited for them to open ate at turnstyles(sp). Occuppied DS very well. Have fun!

My mom, my ds (age 3 at the time) and I were at Pop last year. We had no breakfast ADRs except for one day. When we woke up, either mom or I ran to the food court for coffee in our mugs, and used CS credits for one adult and one child meal (or sometimes 2 kids meals). We'd return with the food. Then we all shared. Often this was REALLY early. So we also had fresh fruit and granola bars in our backpack for on the buses or in the parks. (And, of course, at MK we had to have cinnamon rolls on Main St!)

WL does have refridgerators in all of their rooms, so you can definately store milk or juice in it. They also have a counter service (Roaring Forks) that serves breakfast. They have eggs, bacon, pancakes etc. They also sell yogart, cereal, fruit, muffins, donuts etc. One of us would usually run down to the CS and pick up something and eat it in our room while we get ready. You can also bring things with you to eat in your room. Have a great trip, you are going to love WL it is our absolute favorite resort.

We will be making our first trip with kids (ages 4 & 2) in Jan.
Our kids are early risers, 6am is sleeping in. So we plan to hit the CS for a sit down breakfast as we wait for the busses to show up. My kids are used to frozen waffles or pancakes, fruit and milk every morning. They need a substantial breakfast. We do have a kitchenette in our room (Family Suite) so I plan on getting a box of frozen waffles, granola bars, muffins, milk, ect to have on hand to eat in the room some days.

We ate breakfast in our room (at Saratoga Springs, so full kitchen there), cereal, bagels, granola bars, etc. You'll have a fridge and coffee maker in your room, so you can store cold items and have hot water to make instant oatmeal if your kids like that. Also, since WL has a DVC resort attached to it, you should have some breakfast items available in the gift shop/resort store. You might be able to buy a bag of bagels and a half gallon of milk right there on premise.

I found that DD (then 4) ate breakfast better than any other meal while at WDW since she wasn't as excited as later in the day.
We were on the dining plan, so we used her CS at breakfast every day except the 2 TS days. DH and I used snack credits for cereal and milk or muffins, etc. We all split the 2 adult CS later in the day and had more than enough for all of us. When we go next year, DD will be 7, so we plan to eat more cereal, etc. in the room.

We eat in our room or on the go a couple of times for sure. BUT I love eating out for breakfast so we for sure go to Kona Cafe once for breakfast and at least one character dining for breakfast.
Have fun! |

We do 1 of 2 things:
1. We make an early TS reservation, usually for a different character meal. These are usually buffets so we get food into the kids quick. We eat a big breakfast. This means we can go until quite a bit later before they'll need lunch. They usually get a snack at around 11 and get a CS lunch around 2 or 3. 2. We use snack credits to do a "grab and go" breakfast from the food court, and then have an earlier lunch. (I let my kids eat Mickey ear rice crispy treats for breakfast on vacation.) We'll get CS lunch at around 11 or 12. We'll get a snack around 2 or 3. |

We've been twice with DD ( at age 2 and 3) and stayed at WL, both times. She is not a morning person so getting her up and ready for a sit down restaurant breakfast as well as to the parks as close to rope drop as possible wasn't going to happen. DH went down t9 the Roaring Forks every morning and brought breakfast up to the room (usually a Chocolate Croissant for he and I and pankcakes for DD). There is a decent breakfast selection at Roaring Forks and the WL gift shop also has some breakfast food items. DD was really picky around that time, so we also Ordered food and snacks (things she ate at home) from Garden Grocer and had it delivered to the resort. We ordered things like Milk; Juice; raisins; cheerios; fruit cups; fresh fruit; goldfish etc (and a carton of bottled water for all of us that lasted the whole trip and was great to have in the room- much cheaper than WDW's price per bottle).

We have a son who is 8 and a daughter who is 5. For a weeks stay we pack two boxes of cereal, 4 plastic bowls, 4 spoons, half a sponge, and some dish washing soap in a travel container. I buy a half gallon of Milk, as needed, from the resort store and some OJ and use the refrigerators in the room. All of our Moderate resort rooms and Deluxe resort rooms have had a refrigerator in them for no additional charge. On days when we do not have an ADR for breakfast we eat in the room as everyone is getting ready.

We will have one or two TS meals for breakfast, but otherwise we either bring food from home or grab something quick and eat it at our room. Usually, we will stop at a grocery on our way or bring cereal and milk, peanut butter or cream cheese and bagels plus cartons of OJ from home. We find it is much easier if we keep some kind of similar breakfast that the kids eat at home.
Also, WL should have a fridge in the room to keep stuff cold. |

The rooms at WL have a pretty good sized frig and a coffee pot.
If you'd like to have breakfast in your room the Merchantile at WL has a pretty good selection of fruit, yogurt, donuts etc, etc. You can also order from gardengrocer.com if you want a wider selection. But there will be a delievery charge. Roaring Forks at WL does have a good selection for breakfast. You can take it back to your room or eat it there. The seating area inside Roaring Forks is very small but we enjoy sitting outside, taking in the beautiful surroundings of WL!
