Reading Shattered Silence by Melissa Moore. The daughter of a serial killer

A friend gave it to me yesterday, and I am already half way through. I can't put it down. It is amazing to me that some of these killers have lives and families. The story is written from the perspective of the daughter, and for most of her childhood, he was a loving dad. The point I am at in the story, he has not been discovered yet, so to me, he is coming across as the 'hero'. His kids adored him, and he never let anyone put a finger on them. He killed in the 90's and was known as the "happy face killer". I am going to go look him up.

ACK! Why did I have to start this book now? It is one of those books I just can't wait to get back to. I am taking a phlebotomy course, and I have a 2 page take home test due tomorrow, and all I can think about is picking up this book!!!!

Apparently the author was on Oprah a few weeks ago - around 9/16. I don't know if they show her show on the Internet or when they rerun it.

Yes, when I just googeld him, wikipedia mentions Melissa was on Oprah on 9/17. I wonder if that is why my friend bought the book? LOL. I don't watch Oprah, but I know that if she talks about a book on her show, it flies off the shelves.

Yes, she was on Oprah with Dr. Phil. They also had on the only one of his victims that got away. Her mom was on the show too. Her father is a monster and still tries to manipulate her from prison through cards and letters. Dr. Phil advised her to cut off all contact with him.
