Question about the TSA rule when it comes to having our full names

When it comes to that new TSA rule about having our full name on boarding passes how will that effect Canadian travellers? Obviously when flying from Canada to the United States I don't see it being a problem, but what about when flying from the United States to Canada? For example on my families WestJet reservations for this December which we booked on May 9th of this year, they never asked for our middle names. Plus our Passports which is the best form of ID we can have when entering the United States also don't say our middle names, just our first name and last name. Now the reason I said the date we made our flight reservations is because it was a few days before this new rule was announced and I believe the TSA said this on May 15th. We were also not contacted by WestJet to add our middle names and nothing was mentioned on their website about that.

For the new rule your name needs to match your ID. If you passport doesn't have your middle name then you don't need to worry about your boarding pass having it either. I aske DH, he works for TSA.

It's weird though that your passports don't have your middle names. Canadian passports ask for all given names.

I agree it does sound weird because are full names are required on the applications, however we don't controll how they look once we pick them up.

I've just checked 8 Canadian passports (different people) - in the middle of traveling so I'm sitting around with a bunch of people with passports. ALL of them have both first and middle name. Weird. And they are from a range of dates (i.e. very recent to almost expired).

Well we got our most recent Passports in November 2007 and maybe since then they started adding middle names. However as far as I am concered our Passports are valid and it's not our fault they didn't add our middle names onto them.
