How quickly our lives can change

We were/are a big disney family. We have been on numerous trips with the kids. Our last trip was when my daughter was 18 and she performed on main street with her high school band.

Fast forward a year.. My daughter was in college, met a not so nice person, left home, got pregnant and we became estranged. My DH took it so bad that he had a heart attack. As we were piecing our lives back together we planned a Disney trip. I decided to get my hip replacement which I needed for at least 5 years so that I could walk around the parks. We had hoped to bring our daughter back with us to the place that held the most fondest memories for all of us.

That was not to be... As I was in one hospital my DH was in another. The final diagnosis was pulmonary fibrosis for him..We had never heard of this disease.Tragically we lost him 3 weeks later. I am still in shock

At the repast both my son and daughter constantly talked about all the wonderful trips to Disney and how it was the best time of there life and they were the most happiest there with mom and dad.

My son has left for college and I now live alone. Most days I cannot believe this all happened in a matter of six months. But I am trying to rebuild and have found my way back to these boards, trying each day to be happy and hope one day my children, grand daughter and I can go back to wdw and make new memories.

how true the adage is to live each day to the fullest because you never know what tomorrow brings. I am not looking for sympathy because each family has their own issues and problems. Some more severe than Il.
I just want all the young parents to realize just how precious your kids really are and that they just grow up to darn soon.

Give them a big hug and kiss tonight,,for in a blink of an eye they will be all grown up

God recently reminded me to count my blessings and don't take anything for granted, for in the blink of an eye it could all change. I am so sorry for your great heartache and the sad loss of your dear DH . I send {{hugs}} and prayers that you will be blessed to make more magical memories with your family at WDW. Keep the faith and hopefully they will feel your love and spirit. Godspeed ^i^

so sorry golfgal... was mon sick long? I knew nothing of this horrible disease. All I know is that a lungtransplant is the only cure and that only gives you an extra year or two

Never realized that you can transplant a heart, liver and kidney but a lung is a whole different story

Yes, she has been sick for many years. She had a combination of the P.F. and Scleroderma that went into her lungs.

OP, I know you said you didn't want sympathy but I'm ignoring that. You *do* have my utmost sympathy. What a terrible year you've had!

My DH also has severe pulmonary fibrosis (He has stage 4 sarcoidosis.) His lung capacity decreases every year. although he is very nearly a candidate for lung transplant, he has decided not to go that route. Lung transplant is very difficult and there is no guarantee that his lung disease will be cured. So I live in fear of pneumonia and influenza all the time. My DH is only 52.

Blessings and condolences to each of you. There's never enough time, is there?
