Making out in the halls in high school was a necessity

Just back from CBR

just returned from 2 nites at CBR. We were at barbados building 12 and were extremely saddened to see how neglected it seemed. Many plants were dying, sidewalks had large mud foot prints-we're hoping it was mud although there hadn't been much rain last week, animal feces (smeared and not fresh), vomit and other stains. The carpet in the room was definately not replaced during the recent refurb and mousekeeping was very negligent- partially eaten food/drinks in the refridge upon checkin, shoe peeking out from under the bed.

The worst was that there were feces on the tub under/& on the foot towel you use on the floor when you shower. We checked in after 7pm, dumped luggage and immediately left to go to dinner at 8pm with the friends we were visiting from out of state-we live in Tampa. I didn't see this until the next morning when I took my shower- I covered it when my family went to the bathroom so they wouldn't freak out but left a note with a tip for mousekeeping asking for it to be cleaned. (I uncovered it and placed the stained towel right next to it before we left- my two dd's would have freaked if they saw it) My family didn't shower since we were spending the day at the water park and i had them shower after school right before we went to WDW. I got an emergency phone call mid day that cut our day short- a family member was hospitalized and we went to see if we could check out early - we couldn't. I didn't really expect a refund, but I was upset that no empathy was even displayed or offered. We returned to the room so that I could shower and my dh and kids were going to stay since we were paying for the room anyway. The tip and note were gone but the feces were still on the side of the tub under the towel mat(which was also still stained!) I was disgusted but wanted to hit the road to see my mom in the hospital so I cleaned it myself, showered and left. This whole episode soured me to CBR.

I knew it was a long shot to check out early but it was only 3:30pm and I thought maybe they would see how many times we've been to WDW and offer a credit for another stay. I also know that I should have called housekeeping to clean up the mess immediately but my elder daughter would have been sick to her stomach and I didn't want to ruin her day- when we would be on our way to a park and the room would be 'cleaned' anyway. Never again. I'm going to be a complainer next time.

To add insult to injury, when I returned the next day to pick up my family we didn't get the usual invoice on the door so my husband went to check out in person. Not only were we not able to check out early the day before, but they actually charged us twice for the stay! That was easily rectified but my husband spoke to a manager to discuss the overall disatisfaction of the cleanliness of the resort grounds and he was told that maintenance rotates buildings and that that was probably late on the rotation. Huh? If housekeeping is walking the grounds and sees throwup on sidewalks, animal poop, sticky spills and stains- they don't report it? there were lights out, a lamp that looked as though it would fall over with the slightest wind and general unattended grounds. We were at the beach club where our friends were staying and noticed how well kept the grounds looked there- are deluxe resorts getting more attention?

We're supposed to meet up twice more with family this year during their WDW visits and DH is not too excited about staying on site again. We've loved POR and CSR (would probably stick exclusively with CSR now that they have the queen beds) but for quick weekend trips it might be better to stay offsite and get a real 4 star hotel on priceline for the same $. This really saddens me.

The one bright side was that the pool was great- dh & the kids spent the evening there after I left and the it looked great and the kids really loved it. What a shame that the rest of the grounds were so neglected. Maybe they were trying to go for the after a hurricane carribbean look?

Yuck, yuck, yuck! I think what we all need to do when we find something unacceptable is to go directly to the front desk. Phone calls and notes just don't seem to get the job done. I found this the case when recently staying at the GF, although my complaint was minor compaired to yours. When 2 phones calls on 2 different days didn't get attention, I went to the front desk, a call was made, and maintenance was at our room within 15 mins. It's an inconvenience and waste of precious Disney time, but it's a little inconvenience when compared to spending multiple days or an entire vacation troubled by something. No one anywhere should have to deal with the room conditions you encountered. Sounds like you encountered some unpleasant things outside and on the grounds too. I have always found the grounds and lanscaping well kept at the CBR when staying there or visiting. Usually there are alot of landscapers about too. Wish you didn't have the experience you did, along with the scare of having your mom hospitalized. I hope she is okay now!

I would have picked up the phone and called housekeeping. I'm afraid notes don't cut it because of the language barrier. If I were you, I would write the GM and letter and let him or her know what happened and that you'd like a clean room on your next visit.

I did this at CBR. Our room was gross but when we gave it a second shot, there was a notation on our reservation when we checked in and the room was spotless.

Thanks, my mom will be ok -she's getting a new heart stint due to a blockage.

I honestly wasn't concerned over a language barrier- if a housekeeper sees dried poop on a bathtub I assumed it would be cleaned- not covered up again! The note was more to point out that we found it- didn't do it! Funny thing is that I have asthma and a compromised immune system from Lupus- so I was supposed to get 'extra cleaning'. (I'm a bit paranoid with the H1N1 virus).

This was unacceptable to me and it just compounded with the lackadaisical attitude of the manager when DH discussed our thoughts on the landscaping issues. It felt like we paid for a 'cheap' motel in comparison to our friends at the Beach Club. The amenities are expected to be more luxury and expansive at a deluxe but I didn't expect the lanscaping to look neglected or to be concerned about cleanliness in a Disney Resort.

I will be writing to the hotel. We're really leaning towards staying offsite next time family comes and that is too bad.

Here is what we have found out from issues in the past. Contacting mousekeeping is usually a waste of time, we were told by a manager that the best thing to do is talk with that resorts manager. He said that is the best way to get issues resolved. So whenever we have any important issues I bypass the front desk and mousekeeping and ask to speak with the manager.

Sorry to hear about your experience. It is possible that Mousekeeping didn't understand your note, maybe your "mousekeeper" didnt' speak English.

We also just got back from CBR and had the opposite experience. Our first night, we showered and noticed the tub drain was clogged or something...the water was not draining and it was gross to stand in dirty while while we showered. We called the front desk, they put in a work order and we went off to enjoy our day. The next morning when we showered, it was fixed!
