Day 5 - Breakfast & Final Snack Credits

Everything Pop!
I had 3 snack credits left for the trip & decided to cash them in for breakfast + goodies for the road.

I had a chocolate crossiant as my breakfast this morning.

It was nice and flaky. I ended up microwaving it for about 10 second to make it taste truly fresh and melt the chocolate some and that was the best thing I could have done to it. (I may in fact do that come 19 days from now)

My other two goodies were:

Monster Energy Drink

Rice Crispy Ears

I had neither of these as my husband took them when I got home.

I guess he deserves something for letting me go solo.

Coming Up: Final Thoughts - And did I come out ahead?

Final Thoughts

Costs Covered By Dining Plan:
Sanaa Lunch: $25.97
Jikoís Dinner: $60
Refillable Mug: $12.95
Kona Cafť: $16.58
Tokyo Dining: $32.85
Cheese Fries: $3.29
Ohana: $30.99
Everything Pop Breakfast Day 3: 12.37
Liberty Tree Tavern: $23.97
Flying Fish: $61
Everything Pop Breakfast Day 4: $12.19
Starring Rolls: $3.99
Mama Melrose: 23.47
Everything Pop Breakfast Day 5: $9.79

Total Cost to Disney: $329.41 + tax

Cost of Deluxe Dining Plan for 4 Nights:
$71.99*4 = $287.96 + tax

Costs Out of Pocket During Trip:
$319.86

This out of pocket cost includes my Victoria & Albertís meal, alcohol, and tips. I lost all the receipts that were room charged so I only know what got put on my credit card at the end.

So the savings of using the dining plan for this solo trip were$41.45.

I think Iíve determined that the deluxe dining plan just isnít for me. Without the dining plan, I wouldnít have gotten the snacks I did nor the refillable mug or all three courses each time I ate. I think I would have ended up spending less than $287.96 if I was eating at the same places without the plan, especially using the TIW card I have.

My next trip is in 19 days & we have no dining plan. We will be using our TIW card especially now that itís good for all the places I had planned. I'll be tracking the costs again to tally up at the end!

As I was finalizing my plans for the Feb trip last night, my husband reminded me that there were two sporting events he wanted to watch while we were in Disney - the PPV UFC Fights on Feb 6th & of course the Super Bowl on the 7th.

Stupid Sports!

I need to see if I can change my dinner reserations on the 7th to an earlier time so we can get back in time for kick off. Or I'll go to dinner by myself & he can go watch them at the bar/room/whatever.

The UFC fights are the problem. I called ESPN Club to see if they show them - nope.

I think I'm going to call around some of the DTD places to see if they do. The fights start at 10pm though and go until 1am. Is there any place open that late on Disney property anymore?

Oooo - I realize you will be at the Poly when DH and I are there! I've enjoyed your reviews! If you see someone with a fashionable black fanny pack and a lime green Mickey head hanging from it say HI!!!!

Oh and of course you will remember cause the fanny pack has PKD on it -- for Paramount Kings Dominion -- a theme park in VA. Not even owned by Paramount anymore! I loved the fanny pack and bought THREE!

Bye for now!

Thanks all!

We got in yesterday earlier than I thought as plans changed & we checked into the Polynesian today. I'm going to try to start my reviews this afternoon/evening.

Day 1 - Part 1 - Breakfast/Lunch

We ended up on the road much earlier than I thought. Originally, I thought I would have to work at least a half day, most likely a full day before we could drive down. Something was on my side this week as despite the many 'emergencies' I was able to look at my work load on Thursday and know I would be ok with being gone on Friday. I checked with my boss & he was ok with it.

After dropping the dogs off at 'camp' we began driving down the road on an empty stomach. Around 10:30am, we were hungry.

Of the choices for us, Chick-fil-a was the least menacing.

I went with a Sweet Tea & Chicken Biscuit. My husband went for a Chicken Sandwitch & Fries.

Overall a decent meal for the road food that it is. Better than McDonald's any day!

Meal: $9.51
Total Cost: $9.51

Day 1 - Snacks

Tequila Bar

We arrived at 3pm at EPCOT & the sky was starting to pour.

Eventually we made it to the Mexico pavillion as I wanted alcohol now! as a start to our vacation. The tables inside were filled and the bar was packed.

I had a Pineapple Margarita

My husband only wanted a water.

The margarita was much better than the ones from outside. I love the cactus salt for the margarita.

Snack: $15 (including tip)
Total Cost: $24.51

Snack Cart outside Mission Space

After finishing our beverages, I was noticing the drink was hitting me more than usual but that shouldn't have been a shock to me as it was now 5pm & the only thing I had eaten all day was a chicken biscuit. I started craving nachos but with the counter service in Mexico shut down, I ended up with a pretzel w/ cheese sauce.

No picture as it was eaten in the rain under a metal umbrella.

It was just ok. It was a tasty snack for the two of us to split before enjoying a few more Future World rides before we made our way to dinner.

Snack: $5
Total Cost: $29.51

Day 1 - Dinner

Jiko's

For dinner we ended up at Jiko's. This is my husband's first time to the normal restaurant & he started off not very thrilled about going. He did not enjoy our meal here in October at the F&W Festival Event and was judging the rest of the restaurant on that one experience.

After ordering our meal, they brought out the bread which had changed from when I was last here in December.

I couldn't figure out if it was figs in the bread or something else. Thus I really didn't eat a lot of it.

I had a glass of the Warwick 3 Cape Ladies - $14

We decided to split an appetizer -
Tibs Watt in Panekoeke - stewed beef rolled in "crepes" with peppadew-olive tapenade $9.00

I loved these! I admit I was nervous as I am not a huge olive fan but the taste of the beef and peppadew overpowered any taste of olives.

For my entree - I decided to get another appetizer on the list
Barbecue Chicken Flatbread - With apple-jicama slaw, African barbecue sauce, and four cheeses $10.00
&
Side of Mac & Cheese - $3.50

I loved that flatbread. The slaw with the barbecue sauce made the dish as while I remember there being some chicken, it wasn't the star of the dish.

The mac & cheese was good like it usually is although I think it tastes better when it has the wine sauce mixed in

My husband was unadventurous and went with -
Oak-Grilled Filet Mignon - with Macaroni & Cheese and Red Wine Sauce $41.00

He ordered it medium & it came out medium well. He didn't mind this as over the few years we've been together I've finally gotten him to the point where he'll order medium for filets but he still enjoys more dead meat. If it was me, I would have complained though

He loved his meal!

We split the Celebration dessert - $8 which was the donuts w/ Kenyan ice cream.

This entire meal was excellent. My husband is fine with the restaurant to enter the rotation for the two of us for future trips.

Meal: $88.24
Total Cost: $117.75

I'm going to apologize for the varying photo quality of this report as I forgot my real camera at work thus I'm using my husband's old camera + my iphone and I am failing at some of the settings for his camera.
