OKW was just too big for us.

Don't get me wrong, we loved, loved, LOVED our one bedroom suite. With a 19 month old, it was really a lifesaver with nap and bed times. Plus it was beautiful. And we had a gorgeous water view.

What we didn't like was the resort size as a whole. It was just too big. Even getting to the hospitality house was a pain. If you have a car, it's just fine, but we had no transportation so we were stuck with the bus. We actually used a taxi three times to get to Poly, Contemporary and Fort Wilderness for meals bc it was just easier. We couldn't do refillable mugs because it just wasn't worth it. They should have golf cart rentals like you do for Fort Wilderness.

We also hated the counterservice option. Choices were boring, it took forever to get food and the outdoor seating was directly in the sun - and what if it rained? Compared to other deluxes, its counterservice was just lacking.

Sorry you didn't like the size of OKW. We have been there and we were fine, but I can understand that it would be more difficult with a 19 month old.
Resort to resort transportation is not ever easy. We are staying at the BCV, but I have still budgeted for a few taxi's for our evening ADR's. That said, it is still way cheaper than a rental car for a week.
Counterservice options are not good at any Deluxe or Deluxe Villa resort. The biggest, most diverse CS options are at the Values, followed by the Moderates, but not the deluxes. They have more and better TS options as the trade off.
Thanks for your report

When we were at WL last year, we enjoyed their counterservice - and it was in the same building as we were, which makes things easier. And we took a look at the new counterservice in Contemporary which looks nice too.

DVC resorts are never the best to get refillable mugs. With a full sized refrigerator, it just doesn't make much sense. And at OKW, you also have an ice maker in the refrigerator.

When we get refillable mugs, it's only at the non-DVC resorts that we are staying at.

What some hate about OKW, some love. This family happens to love the open community style of OKW and SSR. We hate the noise and long corridors of BWV. Makes it nice for DVC members; everyone can find something they love.

Yellowstone was amazing and is a lot more inviting than Disney right now. Could we be selling it all in the near future? Maybe.
