DD5 Princess Tea Party Birthday???? Help!

DD's 5th birthday is in Nov...10 days before we go to WDW, but anyway....

I'm thinking of doing a Princess Tea Party at our house; invite 5-6 of her friends, have everyone wear princess dresses (and we have extra to loan if necessary. We could clothe the whole neighborhood in Princess), give everyone Princess jewelry to wear/take home, have "tea" and little cupcakes or brownies, and then what else?

Yes, we could throw in a movie but has anyone done anything a little more creative? No coaches around that I can find, although the neighbors do have a horse. I've seen pinatas, but her little friends are so dainty that DH would have to end up breaking it.

Would you do the tea party at the big grown up dining room table with tablecloth, napkins, flowers, etc, or do it at 2 little kid-sized tables so they can reach everything?

What about doing thier nails and maybe even some make-up and hair?

A pretty craft, maybe a princess crown or wand?

Apple juice or chocolate milk makes good tea. Tiny tea sandwiches and a fruit plate. Maybe chocolate covered stawberries.

5 year old should be ok at the regular table and might feel more grown up!

We had a princess pinata where you pull the strings. One string opens it up. No breaking it which was a help.

Decorate the crown is a good idea. Craft stores have the foam ones.

Design a princess wand? Sash?

There's a great recipe for a castle cake on the Family Fun website. Just search princess castle cake.

We just did this for my dd's birthday in Feb. I ordered tall champagne flutes for the "drinks" and served sprite with a splash of fruit punch, the girls had cupcakes, fruit, and finger sandwiches.

For games we did pin the kiss on the frog (I painted a frog poster, used a sleep mask to cover the eyes, and the kids used kiss stickers to try to put the lips on the frog) and the princess walk (I taped printed out princesses to the floor, as well as a pic of my dd, played music and when it stopped whoever was standing on the princess we pulled out of the hat won the prize). For crafts we decorated jewelry boxes to bring home their goodies in (jewelry boxes were plain wood, $1 each at AC Moore and we used paint pens and stick on jewels), and made crowns to wear (foam from oriental trading and same supplies to decorate as the jewelry boxes).

I also had my mom at the primping station where the girls could have their nails done and we had glitter hair gel and smelly powder puffs so they could glam up if they wanted but only a few girls opted in on nails because they were more interested in spending time at the craft area.

Needless to say, it was a jam packed party and the girls had a blast!

you could try to enlist a couple of other moms and do a mini bippy bopity botique that would be very cute, just some color spray for hair glittler, make up, make some kind of sashes perhaps ?
