Two kids under 2 or under in the same room as mom and dad.

Hi,

When we go in May 2010 our oldest will be 2 years old and our youngest 6 months old. I'm trying to do this as cheap as possible and was wondering how others with younger kids handled this.

Would you spend the extra $780 on a 2nd value room or would just one value room work out.

I'm working with a budget for room and passes of $2100.

Just my opinon: Same room, easier to get to them when they are unsettled. They will be in unfamiliar surroundings and probably sleep better near you. Bets of both worlds? Family suite at the music hotel.

When ever we travel we always stay in the same room. My kids never have issues with falling asleep with noise and we never have to keep quiet while they sleep. I say save money and get 1 room

I couldn't imagine what you would need two rooms for with kids that little. I have a 17 yr old and a 7 yr old and we just get 1 room. The only issue with 1 room is the bathroom and with your ages you wouldn't even have that issue. Cheap as possible wouldn't even include thinking about a second room.

No they hated their pack n plays and always have. They sleep with us. One parent with one child but this year I rented bed rails so they can sleep together and DH and I can sleep together. They each have been in reg beds for a long time. My 1st went into a reg bed ant like 15 months and my 2nd at 19 months so they are used to sleeping in a reg bed.

Where can you rent bed rails from?

I rented mine from a babies best friend. I also rented a double jogging stroller and a stroller lock. It saves me from having to gate check my stroller and cheaper than renting in the park. the web site is abbf.com

Kevschickee, I would bring my own stroller. Helps with the airport! Also, I know some hotels have bed rails that you can get from housekeeping.

Definitely, with a 2 year old and a 6 month old, I'd do one room.

I am bringing an umbrella stroller(small) and my mia tia wrap to carry my 2 year old. IMO much easier than bringing a huge double stroller with you

Looks like I am the lone dissenter. Since you mentioned budget being important to you, you should probably go with one room.

When we took our DD2 and DS6 months, there was no way in H*** I was going to stay in the same room with them. DD snores like a freight train, and DS was still nursing once or twice a night. I knew that one of them would wake the other, and I really wanted everyone to have a good night's sleep. (Me included!) We were lucky enough to have a suite. We rented two cribs from ABBF; DD was in the living room to sleep and DS was in the vestibule between the living room and bedroom. When he needed to nurse, I brought him in my bed to eat then put him back in the crib. Everyone slept well and we had a great trip! I know we're in the minority, for sure, about not having the kids in the room with us. I hope you have a great trip, OP!!

One room. Our kids are 9 and 6. They've both been traveling since they were infants and we always get 1 room. When DS was under 2 there were a couple of times I had to take him to the lobby in the wee hours of the morning so he wouldn't wake everyone up but I probably would've had to do that with 2 rooms. I'd take the $780 and put it as a down payment on the next trip.

We just went at the end of august and it was Me, DH, DS4 and DS6 months along with my mom. I would never never pay for a extra room for just the 4 of us. In fact since they provided a pack and play free of charge. We just had one room for the 5 of us. We spent very little time in our room. We did just fine when we were in the room though. I guess if I hadnt just gone I would have been skeptical too but I really would have felt we wasted money for no reason if we at this point (these ages) had gotten a second room.

we've always done one room

We have 2 who are 17 months apart. They are 6 and 7 now but when they were younger how we did it is this - at bedtime (kept them MOSTLY on schedule) we would do our 'usual' routine and put them down and then turn off all or most of the lights. DH would go to the food court and get a cup of coffee or other and sit and read the paper, I would sit on the bed on read my book (with a clip-on book light OR flashlight). The younger one would get up in the pack n play and look at me or talk to me - and I would remind her 'time for sleep now' and otherwise ignore both of them.

When they're asleep I can turn on the TV on low.

Easy and DEFINITELY cheaper!
