Is there a need for a separate adult singles, no kids forum?

Thanks to all of you regular posters - I have learned a lot about solo traveling here and had a chance to share some of my experiences. Looking at the stats, this forum is one of the most popular in the planning category.

An interesting upshot of that success is that active threads with "single" in the title have been around so long that a lot of the posters are no longer single, and have evolved into chat rooms for groups that have formed friendships from relationships made on this board. That's a great accomplishment, but it leaves us adult singles/no kids out of the loop. It's great that friendships were formed and scrapbooking and birthday party news is being exchanged, but it's not much help in the pursuit of single networking.

As a single guy with an annual pass who is at WDW often, I'd love to meet up with other singles, in groups or otherwise, to say hi, trade stories and maybe share meals. Maybe to hook up a motorcycle run or concert meet with other single adults.

While I appreciate the effort that went into the disdates.com site, it's a bit more formal and embryonic than I'm looking for.

I don't have any idea how this would be accomplished or if there is even enough need, but maybe by posting a critical mass will develop.

Are there others with adult tastes and habits who enjoy Disney from a single perspective that fits right in with a love of travel, drink, food, outdoor sports, and music? With no children or kids that no longer live at home? Disney for solo single adults, perhaps?

Enquiring minds want to know. Tips, ideas and experienced perspective appreciated.

Cheers, Dean (I'm the one on the right)

I would be all for this! I almost always go solo (my "Disney buddy" moved away, no one understands why I go to a "kid's place" all the time).

I love the freedom of being solo, but once in a while would like to have company at dinner or someone to scream with on Rockin' Roller Coaster!

Would also like to have 1 central place for solo TRs, tips and plans.

I totally agree with you. Unless you can go back to the beginning of a thread (and remember all the details!!) and start reading then you are out of the loop.

And quite frankly, there are some people who seriously start flirting and divert the original tone of a thread.

Wish we had a section for people who are just looking for FRIENDS and not the "love of their life". Sometimes I just wanna talk DISNEY not love!!!!

I'm all for it to. Even if you were keeping up with the treads, if you missed a few days, there could be pages to read thru to catchup. Which I don't brother to do anymore because I don't think it's worth it.

I'm so use of traveling alone because of my job, that I've even take my vacations alone, especially Disney. But it would be nice to meet with others for meals, drinks or just to have fun at one of the parks or a show.

My friends and family don't understand why I enjoy Disney so much, they ask "don't I get bore?" I told them I can never get bored, there is always something new I find in Disney (especially the hidden mickey's). The same goes for cruises, I never get bored even if I've been to an island before, I'm the adventure type so I'm always finding new things to do on the islands. Like a friend told me, I still have all my body parts so I should enjoy doing things while I still can. And this came from a friend who talked me into ziplining in Alaska (which I did and LOVED it).

I am all for it. Anywhere singles can meet and combine their love for Disney is good by me

Good idea, gypsy. I'm all for that as long as you folks don't mind an oldster (soon to be 56; sigh).
Motorcycle sounds fun except I don't own a motorcycle. Which is okay since I don't know how to ride one! OTOH, I'm up for horseback riding.

ttester: They don't understand WDW. I don't how one gets bored at Disney! I also agree about the other threads. So many posts you can't keep up.

I think this, in particular, is a great idea! In planning my first solo trip (in 14 days! ), I had a very hard time finding solo TRs.

Your not old....your "Young At Heart" like me...I turned 53 back in August and I don't consider myself old and never will.

I've never been on a motorcycle..but willing to try. It does sound like fun.

I'll tell you all a little secret, but promise you won't laugh. As many times I've been to WDW, I've never ridden EE or RnR. They me. But I'm doing baby steps....I just recently start going on ToT, which used to me. Maybe in 16 days I'll get the nerve to ride EE or RnR (not both) remember baby steps.

OK, I am thinking of a quote from Wayne's World that would be appropiate here, but I cannot remember the exact phrase You will love RnR!!

I agree with the idea of a place for solo TR's, plans, & tips. I usually wind up in the other forums checking out TR's (etc.) of families or couples...just because we really don't have that here.
