When Does Disneylands "Peak" Season Start?

It has been years since I have last visited Disneyland in June, July or August. For years, there was never any need to worry about it, as the Electrical Parade and Fantasmic ran all year, so we never missed it. This last trip, mid-September, was the first time I had not seen the Electrical Parade since it started running, and, I have to say, my trip did not feel complete without it.

So, upon planning our next trip (2011), according to last years schedule, the last week of June seems to have all of the seasonal shows running. Is this the norm for that time of year? I understand that grad nights may be happening while we are there, but that is fine, we would spend 6 days in the park anyways, most likely.

Yep, mid-June is when summer high season starts and park hours and entertainment maxes out.

For historical info see "Historical DLR Park Hours, Entertainment and Refurbs" - www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2291124

Also note that the Electrical Parade offerings will likely change in the future. There is a rumor it will move to DL in 2010 as part of its 55th anniversary celebration which will likely start up in May or June.

Also, with the new World of Color show starting at DCA in March there is much less need for a night time draw like EP at DCA. So it is entirely possible the EP will not be performing at all in 2011.

^^^Well, everything was scheduled to start June 15. Then they had preview shows starting June 11. June 11 was the VIP showing of Magical and F! w/ the new Dragon that didn't appear until Sept 1.
Anyway, OP, just wanted you to know what the official Disney Calendar said. From what I understand, they actually were running fireworks previews even earlier than the 11th, but they were not officially scheduled. The DL method of not having a consistent schedule or not getting one out more than 60 days in advance totally sucks, imo. It makes it very difficult for non locals to plan ahead. Good luck!

ETA: Whoa Hydroguy you and I posted at about the same time. I meant to reference the post above yours.

EP will be performing down Main Street starting next summer and beyond. It's not a limited-time engagement. Disney just invested a significant sum of money in new and refurbished floats, and it certainly wasn't so that the parade could run for two summers.

I'm actually pretty sure that DEP will be moved to DL, going down Main Street, for just 2010 and 2011 (or take 2011 completely off) while they do heavy construction on Buena Vista Street in DCA (the new entrance). Then the parade will move back to DCA to balance out the nighttime shows (DEP and WoC at DCA, Fantasmic and fireworks at DL). The parade is not going anywhere, but its location is going to be changing in the next couple years.

Besides, DEP only runs for like 12 out of the 52 weeks of the year (10 in the summer and 2 in December)

Wow, just as it originally started, on Main Street. I really hope it does keep running, it's an awesome parade.

It would be way cool if MSEP stuck around for awhile at DL. Even though it has had how many "last time at DL - never again!" performances?

In the past, the DEP has sometimes been shown for Spring Break (2 weeks) and on weekends in the spring.
