Cat 12 on the seven day Caribbean Cruise is $889 a person (inside room)
Cat 9 on the same trip is $1700 a person (ocean view) What is the difference between these two rooms besides one having the window? Thanks, Steve |

Cat. 9 has a split bathroom, the 12 does not. The spilt bath is a tub and sink in one room, toilet and sink in another. The 12 can only be booked as a guarantee, which means you cannot choose your stateroom - DCL can put you wherever they choose. The cat. 12's can only sleep 3 people, so if they are allowing you to book the cat. 12 with 4 people, you will be assigned at least a cat. 11 (same as cat. 12 but on higher decks - cat. 12's are all on deck 2). Cat. 9's are on decks 1 & 2 - those on deck 1 have 2 small portholes, while those on deck 2 have one large porthole.

![]() I think the big difference (aside from view of course) is the split bath. Not sure if they're smaller, too? |

Cat. 11 and 12 are 184 sq. ft. in size. Cat. 5-10 are 214 sq. ft. (not including balconies), and I believe most of the extra space goes to the split bath.

Cat 12 is the lead-in price, and they have a small number of rooms they will sell at that rate. The room is slightly smaller than a cat 9, but that's mainly due to the absence of the split bath. And, of course, the window is another difference.

Having the split bath and a window costs EACH of you an extra $115.86 per day. I'd much rather use that money for excursions or another cruise - rather than pay that much more for a window.

The "living space" in a 12 is essentially the same as in a 9 (yes, we've been in both). The difference is that the 9 has a minimally larger entry way and the split bath. It's not enough difference to really even consider in the entry way, and it's not in a location where you'd use it.
The real difference is the "entry level" price vs. a nicer cabin with a much higher price. |

We had originally booked a cat 9 for our upcoming cruise but decided to switch to a cat 12 to save $940.00. They ended up assigning us a cat 9 anyway! I would definitely book the cat 12 if I were you.

Thanks
Hi,
Thanks for the info. We ended up having to book the Cat 9 (7 day Kids Free deal) Deck 2. We have two adults, a 4 year old and a baby on the way that should be about 4 months old on the trip. All Cat 12's were sold out or either we did not fit I guess because we have a party of four, so the agent told us a Cat 9 was the next one avail. Thanks, Steve |
