Going home today - observations from our 2 week trip

We are on our way home from another fabulous WDW vacation. We got to do just about everything we wanted to do - all 4 parks, 2 water parks, Disney Quest, DTD, swimming at the pool, fun on the Boardwalk.

Our first 5 days were with my sister and her family. We planned very carefully for those days to maximize their time there since it was their first visit as a family. After that we slowed the pace WAY down and relaxed a lot more.

A few things that bugged me this week:

1. Why do they have to have the music or tour guide mics up so loud? We were waiting for Spectromagic and the CM came by with the "gift" boom box. Yikes - she was really blowing the speaker on that thing. I was so glad when she moved away after several songs, because it was giving me a headache. Our guide at the Animation Tour also had her mic up so loud I had to plug my ears. There weren't even very many people on the tour. Those are just 2 examples of the ear breaking volumes we heard this week.

2. We had at least 2 tour guides who had very bad diction. Even with the speakers set so loud, we could barely make out what they were saying. This happened at the Animation Tour and on the Safari.

3. I really miss the old Spaceship Earth. I usually rode that mulitple times just to hear the amazing music they used to play (especially during the backwards part). I didn't even really want to go on it a 2nd time this trip - it's just too depressing that my favorite WDW music is gone. I also don't like the dumbed down commentary. "Remember how easy it was for you to learn your A, B, C's?" Yuck.

A few things that made our trip special:

1. Having my sister and her family there with us. It was so cool to see them enjoy everything.

2. Marge and Amy at Wegoshop. We got grocery delivery twice even though I only originally scheduled once trip. That was a huge help since we had 10 people eating together for the first five days.

3. Free dvd rentals at BWV community hall. My older dd got sick for the last few days and spent most of it in the room. Watching movies made it a little less painful to be stuck in the room.

4. Fastpasses and Single Rider lines. We used these to the max. and rarely stood in line for very long.

Thanks for reading. I'd be glad to answer questions.

Howdy neighbor! Thanks for the observations. Glad you had a good trip. Bummer about your dd. IA with you about Spaceship Earth. It just isn't the same. Bring back Jeremy Irons!

Glad you had a great trip!

...As for Spaceship Earth, I think Disney powers-that-be are making SEVERAL efforts to make Epcot more little kid friendly (possibly because it is so large, so it frees up space in other parks,) hence the more simplistic story telling. For me, Nemo misses the mark as well.

Perhaps with all the upcomming renovations (closings) that will be happening for the Fantasyland makeover, it is necessary to feed traffic in another direction...and they don't mean Universal!

As for poor diction, I would like to see someone with a pulse be the tour guide for "The Great Movie Ride," because the script to that one falls flat with a resounding thud!...I'd rather sit in the dark with Drew Carey!
