Sending note to doctor about visit yesterday?
I have psoriatic and osteo arthritis with knees that give me a lot of misery. I have had one injected in the office x2 and it helped a lot so I asked my rheumatologist/internest if I could arrange to have both injected before my Oct. vacation. She agreed and went to the scheduling desk with me, told the person to schedule a double appointment for me. Fine. I even wrote it in my planner as "2:45/bilateral knee injec". So..I arrive yesterday and say right off the spot that I am there for the knee injections and ask if I might also get a flu shot. They are temporarily out of vaccine so just the knees. The nurse gave me a funny look, my doctor (whom I love) came flying in and then out to get the stuff for the injection. It was done, taking about 10 min. all told and then I left. As I went past the nurses' desk she asked me to be sure to arrange ahead of time to have it scheduled when I want the injections. I told her I had and that even the doctor had told the scheduler to give me a double appointment time. She looked kinda funny then said they had changed over to a new computer system and it must have gotten lost. Okay.... I am really kinda miffed now. I know I don't want to leave this office but I would like some aknoledgement that I did the right thing and that the office was the problem. I guess I want my doctor to be sure to know that. I am a nurse and I understand how things like this can cause a mess with the schedule. I even went 30 min. early so I could be available if they wanted to start early. I bend over backwards to be as easy a patient as I can.
I guess I feel I should write a note to my doctor about how I feel. I am not angry so much as disappointed. I kinda felt the doctor had Amy say that to me instead of just telling me outright herself. I would have been less than happy but I would have offered to come back another day if it was a problem for them yesterday. Should I just keep my mouth shut and let it go our should I write a very basic, calm note? I guess I feel I would have rather been told they couldn't do it than to be made to feel like a burden, which I was not supposed to be if their office staff/computer had done it's job properly. |

I'd let it go.
It was a mistake, it is over, who cares who made it? I can tell you the doc is not even thinking about it now.

I'd write the note - but that's me... I'm a note writer
. I had a similar situation but got to explain it to the doc myself and she thanked me! She thought her secretary had messed something up and I had confirmed it for her - she 'cant fix what she doesnt know is wrong', was her quote. But, as another said, if it's not part of a bigger problem (as mine was...) the doc probably hasnt given it a second thought either. So, go with your gut... and good luck.

If this was a one time incidence I would let it go, it happens. If your appointments haven't been scheduled properly in the past I would write that note.
One time I showed up with the kids to their annual physicals. The nurse said, "Oh your appointments were last week." I had it in my book and I knew I was correct but the card was at home. The doctor fit us in ( I knew he would, and they were long appointments he had to squeeze in) but again at the end when I was at the desk it was brought up that "I" had the wrong date. When I went home and found the card it confirmed we had it right. It was a one time thing and my relationship is long term one with this office and I figured being right didn't matter so I dropped it. I do confirm every appointment prior to showing up now. I hope your knees are feeling better and that you have a great vacation!

Get over it. Wow. If you are a nurse then you know the Dr could care less about you showing up. If anything he or she is already mad at the receptionist. Or maybe the Dr realizes that there was a computer problem. We did the same thing in our Dr's office and I can't tell you how many mess ups we had but the Dr's knew that it would happen. None of our patients got bent out of shape by it.

Let it go...
They agreed to treat you before your vacation, based on your wishes, and did not hesitate to do so, even though there seemed to be some slight confusion/mistake somewhere. You are happy with this medical office. I am assuming that you see them fairly regularly... You have an established relationship here. I would NOT write a note. You will be looked at as the uppity note-writer every time you walk in there. (And, believe me, when something is warranted, I AM a note-writer.... Just look at my posts on the recent thread about the inappropriate/unprofessional comments/language overheard by one DIS patient.) |

It sounds like kind of an honest mistake, and when you pointed out that you had done that, they gave you the explanation of a computer glitch, which, with a new system, is quite likely the cause.
I'd let it go...I generallyl have bigger fish to fry in my life than worrying over minor stuff like this. I probably wouldn't even have noticed the perceived "slight".

You were seen so I'd let it go. Mistakes happen and the dr knows this.
I also book appts in a drs office. I never mind if a pt calls a few days prior to confirm an appt. When I book in the computer I always go back into the appt to confirm the computer accepted the appt an it reassures me the errors do't happen. if it were the secretaries error i can assure you she is probably feelin aweful about it already. Don't throw salt in a wound. |
