Those eggs look perfectly done. I must say, after you got off the plane you have really had an amazing trip so far! Looks like all that research really payed off.

OMG - did i really just see a picture of key lime pie dipped in chocolate on a stick? That looks amazing.

Also, I need to find a Bubba Gump and soon. The dynamite shrimp is something I would eat up!

p.s.Love krispy kreme. grew up and live in the south so have been eating them (not everyday) most of my life.

Sarabeth's Yes, after we had left the plane and Miami rain behind us, everything turned out wonderful - and there is lots of magical moments to come!

I was beginning to think you were going to just leave us hanging after the Key Lime Pie on a stick.

Looking forward to the next segment.

Still day 5, Aug 19

A snack from Starbuck's

We spent the morning lighting candles at St. Mary's Star of the Sea for the hurrican missing us, then climbing up to the top of the lighthouse and visiting Ernest Hemingway's house and cats, further on to the end and start of Highway 1 and those famous signs.
After that we needed a snack, so when we passed the Crown Plaza La Concha we decided to pop into Starbuck's and have a Frappuccino and a little rest.

I decided on having a Caramel Frappuccino - well, that's what I always have!

Tom was more adventurous, he had a Java Chip Frappuccino! I didn't try it but he said it was nice.

Next up Dinner at the Southernmost Cafe at the Beach

Oh, someone needs to earn some money - we are going to see Mickey again (here at his European home) at the end of the month to help him celebrate his Halloween Party!
Honestly, it has been a tough week at school and I am glad the weekend is approaching FAST! 3 more lessons tomorrow and then the weekend is going to start!

..... and still day 5, Aug 19

Dinner at the Southernmost Cafe at the Beach

We did some more shopping, got back to the resort and chilled on the balcony with a glass of wine and a beer (for Tom).
In the evening we decided to walk over to the Southernmost Cafe at the Beach again to have dinner.

They were pretty full, but we were lucky and were seated at a table with a view.

Now, how relaxing and nice is that for a farewell dinner?

We were handed the menus and ordered our diet cokes. There was something on the menu that sounded interesting as a starter.

So we shared an order of Conch Fritters, an island favorite, deep fried and served with a sweet and spicy dipping sauce. We had never had conch before and I was a bit sceptic, but we were glad we tried. The pieces of conch inside the fritters were somewhat chewy, but the fritter itself was crisp and light and tasted yummy, dipped into the sauce.

We had not really finished our fritters when they brought out some warm, soft bread and butter.

They also brought out two "small" salads that came with the main dishes.
Crisp leaves, carrots and tomatoes, served with their house dressing - very good!

Tom ordered the The A La Mare Pasta, a combination of shrimp, mussels, clams, and crabmeat, with penne pasta, tossed in a spicy marinara sauce. This was quite a big portion, considering they served welcome bread and a salad with it. The pasta itself was loaded with mussels, clams, large and small shrimp and crabmeat. The sauce was not very spicy, but it was still very good.

I had the Pollo Pasta, grilled chicken breast, spinach and sun dried tomato with penne pasta, tossed in a Caribbean alfredo. The sauce was very creamy, even though it was a little underseasoned too. There was also plenty of chicken breast. But this serving was just to large. I could not even finish two thirds of it!

After dinner we watched the sunset from the pier before we went back and started packing. We were heading back to the mainland the next day and only two more days until we would arrive at Disney!

Next up - breakfast at Turtle Kraals
