How "Alone" will I Be in Hot Tub During Alone Time?

I have an Alone Time booked on a Sea Day. So, assuming that the only things that will be viewing me from the ocean are the birds flying by, will any of my spa neighbors be able to see me in the hot tub? I'm trying to decide whether I should wear my swimsuit or just go au naturel.

If your neighbors choose to look around the verandah wall they will be able to see you. There are also a couple of villas that are very close to the Bridge and may be visible from that area.

When I did Alone Time I opted to wear my bathing suit in the hot tub, even though there was no one in sight. Should I ever do Alone Time again I will do it the same way.

BTW, I highly recommend the Ginger Lime Salt Glow!

People on the neighboring balconies will be able to peek around the separator and see you, but I don't think that's necessarily likely to happen. What is more likely to happen is that people on deck ten looking over the railing will be able to look down at you, since the hot tub is on the uncovered portion of the verandah and juts out further than the deck overhead. Plus the attendant will come in the room to get you out of the hot tub. BTW, I also highly recommend the Ginger & Lime Salt Scrub. It comes with a half body massage, so it's like getting two treatments for the price of one, and the salt scrub leaves your skin super soft. Just be sure you do not have ANY sunburn before doing this, or it will be incredibly painful instead of enjoyable. As long as you aren't sunburned it's quite pleasant.

What about the other spa treatments? Do you have to completely disrobe for all of them or could you keep on a swimsuit or just swimsuit bottoms? I've never done a massage or other spa treatments and feel funny signing up for one and not knowing what to expect. What do they mean by half body massage - which half? Yes, I know, I have weird questions.

When the wife and I did the couples massage, they came in, gave us a big ole blanket and advised us to disrobe to whatever state we were comfortable with, and then lie face down, covered with the blanket. They then left the room. We stripped down to our "Drawers", and then assumed the position face down and covered up. They came back in, and would uncover the limb or back they were working on, do their thing, and then cover it back up before moving to the next. The most "personal" that they got, was tucking the waistband of my boxer briefs in under the rest, and slightly pushing up the legs to just below my cheek. My wife said she didnt want to roll over for a chest/torso massage, so they just spent twice as long on her back and legs. They are very discreet, and very conscientious of modesty. In fact, they were recovering parts I would have rather they left uncovered, like my legs well below the cheek level, cause I was getting kinda hot under the blanket and towels. As far as half body massage, they are referring to the half above the waist. Like I described above, if it's full body, and your'e uncomfortable about your front or back, then they'll just spend twice as long on he side you're comfortable with. As far as the "Core Region", they at no point come close to ever going there.

Cher, it's perfectly understandable, if you haven't had one before.

It's the "top half" which means neck, back and shoulders (and maybe arms and hands). Even a whole body massage doesn't include the front of the trunk except the collarbone area, nor the buttocks, but you will get a much better massage totally disrobed. You will be very well covered with sheets, and the therapists are expert at uncovering just that portion they're working on. You will have to flip, half way through, but even that is done discretely, as they lift up the sheet so that they are on oneside and you are on the other.

It depends on what treatment you get. For the salt scrub/ half body massage you strip to underwear or bathing suit bottom. For any of the villa treatments there is a shower on the covered part of the verandah with curtains around it for you to wash off after the salt scrub and before the massage portion. During the treatments they cover you with a towel so the only part of you exposed is the part they are currently working on. My impression of the half body massage is that they just do your back half, and spend less time on your extremities than with the full massage. It's more of a time distinction IMO. For facials (or the oh-so-fabulous Frangipani scalp massage which is only bookable on ship) I'd recommend a tube top if you've got one, since they tend to massage your neck area as well.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions. It sounds like I should opt for the swimsuit so that I don't cause people up on Deck 10 to go blind should they happen to catch a glimpse of me.

I'll definitely consider the Ginger Lime Salt Glow, although I'm leaning towards having a facial just because it's been forever since I've had one.

Cheryl, I take my bra off when I get a massage but leave my underwear on. That way, the masseuse can massage my entire back without a bra strap in the way. As PP have said, they are very good about only exposing the area on which they are working. When you roll over, it is done quite easily and discretely. Although, my massage therapist does comment that it is an Athletic Event when I roll over. Bless her heart!

Just an FYI that the spa likes to try to sell you some of each of the products they use on you, ESPECIALLY at the facials. I've heard if you tell them upfront that you don't want the sales pitch they will honor that, but I haven't tried it myself. I just let them present it all, say no to everything, and move on with my day. Not that the stuff they sell isn't good. It's all excellent products, and I do use a couple of their things at home, but it's also quite pricey. Just a heads up so you don't inadvertently purchase yourself an $80 bottle of facial cleanser.

Oh, the horror! The Clinique ladies at Nordstrom start salivating when they see me coming. I'm such a pushover for facial and body products.

Well then, you are in for a treat - the spa uses Elemis and La Therapie, and will be happy to sell you hundreds of dollars worth of product! I usually end up picking something up from the spa to bring home, but I try to limit it to once per cruise. Ironically my husband is an easier sell than I am. Both product lines are excellent. If you get a chance on your next cruise I HIGHLY recommend you try out the frangipani scalp massage. It's technically a salon treatment, so you can't book it until you are on the ship, but it's like $30 and is amazing! By far the best spa deal on the ship, IMO.

Here's the description of it off the website.

Price from $26. A balanced formula created with botanical extracts—including those from the Tahitian frangipani flower—is gently massaged into your scalp, leaving it soothed and conditioned.

Ok, I admit that I bought spa products for some obscene price I'm still embarassed to mention. That being said, I've used them since January and the lines around my eyes are visibly smaller. Seriously, its good stuff and I'm contemplating buying it again when I'm on the ship next month. I use the products twice a day and still have some left over. And its the same price on land at other spas only you have to pay sales tax on it.

So even though I felt stupid for buying it in the beginning, it was definitely worth it!!
