Birthday gift for a 10 year old girl??

A new girl moved into the neighborhood. I don't know her very well, but know she is kind of sporty, also likes stuffed animals and dolls too. She has a new dog.

I want to spend $20-$25.

My DD is 11 and she loves Bendaroos. You can get them at Walgreens or WalMart.

Lately my kid gift of choice has been arts and crafts kits. If you have a Michaels in your area, they'll have a good selection of kids crafts. I recently bought one where you make your own lip glosses and soaps - very tween girly!

If you have an embroidery store close to you they usually have sports bottles with one initial already made up for about $15. They have other stuff you can throw in. Last weekend we picked up a $6 initial bookmark to add in a birthday gift, actually found that in a gift shop that doesn't do their own monograming. My DD and her friends love that stuff even though it's girly (but not little girly) and they are all sporty. The only letter I've found hard to find "off the rack" is V.

my daughter is 11 and really loves making friendship bracelets. there was a kit at AC Moore that had a book and a selection of strings for about $8.

DD enjoyed picking out a box that was about $5 and then a whole bunch of embriodery floss in a variety of colors. The embriodery floss only costs 35 cents a skien.

DD also likes to shop at claire's and got a gift card for her birthday. she really liked that one.

DD10 loves books (Barnes and Noble gift card), stuff from Claire's (earrings, accessories), loves sports but has most of what she needs (she did get a tie-dye soccer ball as a gift once and she loves it), and games (Apples to Apples is a great one - she also likes Mastermind, Quiddler, and Mancala). I'll probably get her Pictureka for Christmas - we don't have that one yet. She loves dogs as well, so she likes the coffee table type books with cute pictures of dogs. We have gotten a few at Barnes and Noble, and I ordered this one for Christmas:

Since you don't know her very well yet or even what she already has, I would suggest a gift card (maybe Target). I think that is a gift any tween would appreciate.
