Just had Lasik.....how soon can I go on rides?

I just had Lasik eye surgery on Monday and we are planning to be down there Nov. 18 - 23rd to see the Holiday decorations (my first time seeing them!!!!!!). I know there is a period of time where your eye is still healing. I just wonder if any of you have had Lasik and then went to DL and if so, how soon after your surgery did you do that? I guess I could have asked my doctor this but I didn't think about it!
TIA!!

Call the office and ask. You really want to make sure you get the proper instructions and advice from a professional.

Totally agree with this. I had the procedure about 5 years ago, but really couldn't tell you how long you need to wait before you could ride.

What was your eye sight before the surgery? What is your eight sight now?

Mine was 20/450. Now it's 20/25 in one eye and 20/30 in the other. I really love the change.

Hi, congrats on your LASIK surgery!
I actually got LASIK earlier this year in February and went to DL in May. I was able to ride all the rides that I wanted to go on but that doesn't say much since I'm not a big fan of roller coasters. I did go on POTC and Indy and all was fine. My LASIK surgeon told me I was fine to do pretty much anything except extreme sports (i.e. skydiving) and swimming for the first few weeks. However, I was super cautious the first month after surgery and avoided exercising and anything with too much movement. You have about two months before your trip so you should be able to ride on most rides. But like the PPs said, it's best to call your doctor's office and ask them directly as they would know more about your individual case. I'm sure you'll be able to go on a majority of the rides if not all though. Have fun!

I was severely nearsighted and have worn glasses since I was 9 yrs old. I don't even know what my exact vision was. I do know that on another scale, Lasik will correct eyes only up to a -11. One of my eyes was a -10 and the other a
-9. So I was getting to the point where if my vision got worse, Lasik would not have been an option for me.

I had my follow-up appt later in the afternoon of the day of my surgery. (was supposed to be the next day but the doctor was going out of town) So 5 hours after my procedure, they said I was seeing 20/20. I will go back in 1 month for another follow-up.

I am very pleased with my results and have not had any problems at all. I've had a little bit of dry eye and that is my reminder to put my eye drops in! I haven't had any light sensitivity or anything like that. My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner!

I am going to call the office in the morning and ask them about my original question. Thanks everyone!

Another LASIK girl here! It's been a little more than a year since my surgery, and I'm now seeing 20/15 and it completely got rid of my astigmatism!

I wasn't supposed to swim for a month after, or go tanning, and was told to be careful of rubbing my eyes, but those were my only restrictions. Just ask your doctor to be safe, but I honestly see no problems with DL as it will be nearly 2 months away. I worked on a boat, and my doctor knew that, and I was back to work 2 days later.

Just one note - make sure when you use eye drops you're not using any that have any redness reduction. You just want lubricating drops, things like Visine and ClearEyes that get rid of redness actually constrict the blood flow.

Congrats on your surgery and have a great trip!

My wife is getting Lasik on Saturday and we're going to DL on November 10th, she didn't ask specifically about going on rides but I think you can do pretty much anything after a month. A friend got it done about a month ago and he's able to do anything. He was working out and playing hockey after a week so I think rides will be okay.

Wow 20/15. The day after my vision tested at 20/15 in one eye and 20/20 in the other. It all settled out after a couple of weeks.

Hope that it stays at 20/15 for you. It's amazing.

I got Lasik around 2 years ago...I was 20/200 now I am 20/15!!! I think that you will be fine to go to DL, just wear polarized sunglasses while you are there. They protect your eyes in case you have light sensitivity (which I have in bright sunlight), protect your eyes from UV rays and also protect your eyes from the wind blowing anything into them.
