Brainstorming session

We just hit the 2 month mark until our trip to WDW…..but I'm dreading telling people where we are going…..because they just don’t get it…..and they all respond to the news like I’m some kind of a nut-job. Recently, it occurred to me that maybe honesty isn’t the best policy. Maybe…..if I came up with a plausible alternative excuse for my absence …..I could avoid being treated by my friends and co-workers like I'm Jojo the idiot circus boy with a pretty new pet.

Keeping in mind that my fabricated leave of absence needs to be less humiliating than simply admitting that we are going back to WDW, here’s what I’ve come up with so far:

1. hair plugs
2. colonoscopy
3. trip to the clinic to get cured off the wild turkey

Obviously, I'm just spit-balling here.....but there are no bad ideas in a brainstorming session. That's the beauty of it.

Why tell them anything? If they ask, tell them. If they have a comment I'd just ignore it.

You could tell them that you received an email from a rich widow in Uganda who wants to give you 20 million dollars, and you are going there to pick up your money.

I got sick of hearing the, Disney again , so now when people ask I say "Florida".
If they presure I say, "You know the beaches, Cocoa,Daytona, etc" If they ask about WDW, I'll say "Yeah maybe pass by there."

I mean really I am trying so hard not to be rude to their rudeness. I want to say I go to WDW so much "Because I can!" But I am a nice princess so won't say that.

LOL - I know the feeling. My sister is a grinch when it comes to WDW visits. I don't even mention it to her because she's so bigoted against WDW or any trip that involves a hotel stay instead of a campground or trailer park.

DH has an over-90 year old "aunt" (MIL's bff) who lives about an hour from Orlando. My sister rolls her eyes when he talks about visiting Auntie because she "knows it's just an excuse to go to Disney World." It really hurts my husband's feelings, but it's really my sister's issue, not ours.

Just say you're going to Florida and don't elaborate. You can always tell us about your plans - we loved your trip report and can't wait for the pre-trip one to start!

Did you buy PalMickey a new outfit yet?

I hate when people judje us, really do we judge them for going to Mexica over and over again just because it is All-inclusive option. Tell them you visiting old friend, it is not a lie, you going to visit Mickey.
I think all of the Disers should move to the same city, then none of us will get "weirdo" looks when we are going to WDW.

I so know how you feel, we live in Scotland and people here just don't understand why we want to visit Orlando every year. I explain to them that there is more to Florida than just the theme parks and that it is such a fun place to holiday. Just ignore all those boring people and have a fantastic time at WDW.
We go in 35 sleeps, can't wait

First, who cares? it's your vacation not theirs. Tell them, you don't
tell them where to go on vacation, don't tell you where to vacation.

But if you really don't want to say....
Just tell them your going to the Mountains to for a visit.
They don't need to know it's Splash, Thunder, Space.

I have a family member who used to loudly sneer at our Disney trips until the day I told him it was a heck of a lot better than throwing my money away in a casino. Mr. High Roller shut his mouth and never brought the subject up again.

I guess I'm must really lucky because all my friends, family and co-workers seem to love Disney as much as me and dh do. When I tell people where we are going I hear "Lucky" and "I'm so jealous".

I wouldn't lie, and if you DO get some rude responses such as "Augh, Disney? Why would you want to go there?" You can always say it is because you know it is the one place THEY WON'T BE!

I must be lucky. I mention I'm going to Disney World at work, and people offer to loan me their Unofficial Guide Book (I have one, thanks! My 2007 got loaned out and never came back, but the 2009's on my desk), park tips, restauraunt reviews... And, "Oooh, will I fit in your suitcase?"

Just say it with a confident tone. They're not going to like it anyway but if you sound strong and confident in your answer, they may start to question they're own reasons for not liking it and maybe change their opinion of a Disney trip.
