Shipping items from WDW

Hello, Does anyone know how expensive it is or how much of a hassle it is to have something shipped to your home if you purchase it from inside one of the parks or Downtown Disney? What about shipping something from your resort? Any experience in doing this? I am thinking like maybe one of the castle playsets or something, Thanks!

It is VERY common, and all of the shops at WDW are set up to do the shipping.
It is not exactly inexpensive, however.

Shipping & Handling rates are now based on the
total amount of the items on the order.

Item Cost.............S&H
$ 00.00 - $50......$ 9.95
$ 50.01 - $75......$14.95
$ 75.01 - $100.....$19.95
$100.01 - $150.....$24.95
$150.01 - $250.....$29.95
$250.01 - $500.....$34.95
$500.01 - $1000....$39.95

Last year we shipped some personalized Christmas ornaments home. It was totally worth it to me not to have to worry about them getting broken in the luggage or carry on.

Same here. We often ship things home even though it costs a little more, I dont have to worry about packing it up. Also what we have dont in the past, is have everything shipped back to the hotel and then the last night, we take things down and have it all shipped together so it saves a little on shipping.

One other little note, when you ship home you do not pay FL sales tax so that helps defray some of the shipping costs. Also, when you ship, if it arrives damaged or broken, WDW will replace it free of charge. If you take it home with you, you have to hope that you get it home with no damage. I have shipped home my purchases many times and never had a problem and it is nice coming home from work and finding a WDW delivery waiting!

We ship stuff home every trip. It very easy to do and like many posters above have stated then you dont have to worry about things breaking on the flight home and/or paying the baggage fee in case your luggage weighs over 50 pounds

These are the shipping rates for shipping from a Disney store.

I have seen posts here over the years, as you asked, of folks shipping their resorts and it being somewhat less costly. You would do the packing, etc, and resort would ship, UPS if I recall.

This is exactly what I was going to say. It's worth it when you don't pay the sales tax and a big advantage not to have to find room in suitcases for all our purchases. We've never had an issue with anything being broken when we received it, but some friends of ours did and they said Disney was wonderful about replacing the item for them.

We usually try to do most of our shopping at the World of Disney Store and ship a single package from there. Any other smaller items we buy elsewhere we'll carry home with us.

If you ship to your resort, then home from there, you WILL pay sales tax.

We shipped a lot of stuff from the shops as we went... and had a days of arriving packages after we got home. It was like Christmas!

It was suggested that we carry home the photos that we had taken (Splash Mountain, etc), as Disney couldn't replace those if they were damaged, but everything else is replacable if it gets broken.

Space was a big consideration for us... and with what airlines are charging for extra bags/weight, this is a BIG benefit.

When we went to our last 4 Disney trips we always ship all the stuff my son got from his Disney trip. I think shipping the package was cheaper than paying the airlines for another luggage and it was insured in case anything breaks Disney would replace the items. Everything come in great condition.

We tend to try and ship from Downtown Disney if they have the merchandise we want. We have AP's and get 10% off, and I'm pretty sure Disney Visa card holders get the same discount. So the 10% off, tax removed from out of state shipping, no extra luggage weight pretty much balances it out for us.

The only problem we had this past trip in September is that they wouldn't ship a can of coffee home for us saying it was "perishable". Really? I have coffee in my freezer that's probably a year old. Then they said something about possibly denting the can. Good luck with that. I've had blown glass shipped by Disney with no problem and they've shipped chocolate to Germany for me with no problem and no coffee now?

I think it's fairly cheap to ship from FL to where we are (NJ), but got sticker shock in DL when they wanted to bill us $70 to ship--ACK. We bought a $15 piece of luggage and schlepped it home.

Aren't the resorts FedEx equipped? Do you still pay shipping per the Disney price schedule if shipping from a resort?
