He who controls the Spice controls the universe - 7 days DDP reviews

Hello all!

By way of introduction, I am a long time lurker on this board and have decided to jump in with both feet with my first dining report!

I have long enjoyed the efforts of others on this board and would like to give back and contribute my own dining experiences at the World.

Before we go any further though, let me first disappoint you by saying that this report does not contain any food porn. Last year, I did a week of deluxe ddp, and had planned to do a detailed dining review with pictures of all the food, a la classic reports by Disboard luminaries I admired like MickeyNicki, Poohs-Honey-Pot, and Eeyor's Tailfinder (just to name a few, there are many others whose reports I enjoyed immensely as well). However, when I actually contemplated the work involved with taking pictures of all the food and uploading images, I ended up not doing a report at all. So this year, I will at least give a text only review of my week of Disney gorging. And I will try to update regularly and finish the report in a reasonable amount of time.

So heeere weeee goooooo!!

This is my first day back from Disney, having just spent another magical week there. Like others before me, writing this report will act as a tonic for the Disney hangover that's just starting to kick in.

Participants in this trip were my wife and myself, and our 3 yo son (we also have a 7 month old son who Grandma was nice enough to babysit for us for the week). I am in my mid-thirties, as is my wife, and I'm a dentist, as is my wife, in the great city of Toronto, Canada. Shout out to all my fellow hosers on this board!

The two activities I enjoy most are travelling and eating and when I think back on some of the trips I've been on, my most vivid memories involve the food I've eaten in my travels.

I've seen the statue of David at the Accademia, but what I really remember is having the best slice of cheese pizza on a narrow side street in Florence.

I've visited the Eiffel tower, but what I really remember is having moules et frites on the patio of a restaurant on the Champs Elysees.

I've seen the temples of Bangkok, but what I really remember is having an amazing sweet and sour whole fish at a tiny little Thai restaurant in a back alleyway.

I've seen the canals of Venice, but what I really remember is having an after dinner Limoncello in an outdoor cafe in a deserted Piazza San Marco, with the band playing.

And so on and so forth.

Although I will pay for and enjoy a $140 omakase meal at a trendy Japanese restaurant, I will also enjoy myself just as much, when the occasional urge arises, gorging on cheddar biscuits and fried shrimp at the local Red Lobster.

Just like I have been all around the world, but one of my favorite places is a spot viewed by some people (albeit misinformed cynics) as one of the most touristy and kitshy places of all.

So now you know a little bit about me, you'll have a better idea of where I'm coming from as you read my subsequent reviews.

On with the show!

I will forgive you for not having any food porn.

I'm impressed that you traveled the world, yet still can enjoy those addictive cheddar biscuits from Red Lobster!

Looking forward to reading your report.

If I didn't know better I'd swear from your title that you were my husband.

And those cheddar biscuits at the Loobster (as we call it out here in the sticks) are awesome! Looking forward to reading your reviews.
