When will Harry Potter be open? - The DIS Discussion Forums

Apologies if this is an obvious question, but it's been a couple of years since I posted here and haven't been following all the developments in Orlando.

We're thinking about planning a return holiday to Disneyworld and Universal Orlando next year, maybe at Easter. We'd be really disappointed to not get in to the new Harry Potter land at IoA because we were there just a short while before it was open to the public. Does anyone have a firm idea, or even an educated guess, about when it might be ready for the public? If Easter is not guaranteed we could visit during August instead.

Firm idea? Spring 2010. That means anytime from March 21st to June 21st. Here's an idea of how this could go...Rockit was supposed to open "Spring 2009"......it opened in August. My advice....wait until later in the year....besides the longer you wait, the better

Easter would be very hopeful, Id be really surprised. August is a lot more likely but the parks will be totally crazy at that point if it does open. And if WWHP is anything like the other new rides there probably wont be express for a while after it opens

If you want FIRM plans, I would not book anything until AFTER June 2010.

I actually wrote in to Guest Sevices and got a call from a rep. She said that not only do they not have an official date, but they can't even hazard a guess beyond "Spring 2010" for now. In her words "It could be June, it could be May, it could be April, it could even be March, although early march is technivally still Winter." ...

So that's that for now. all I know is that their contract with Warner stipulates it 8must* be open by/before June 30th.

Probably closer to 2011 before it is finalized IMHO.

I would wait until it has a solid date. I say this because I recall that when they first announced they were going to build HP, it was supposed to be open by fall 2009. We are going in November 2009 and I am disappointed that it is not open. Our trip date is November for many reasons so it wasn't planned around HP but it would have been nice to see it. I guess it just gives us another reason to come back! And with all upgrades/changes at Magic Kingdom, I know I will be back.

They never said that. They said 2009/2010. They knew this was going to be a huge undertaking so they gave themselves a huge window of error.

But like I said in my original post, I did not plan my trip based on that statement and expecting to see WWHP, especially since it said "expected". I'm just excited that it's even being built!

Me too and I haven't read any of the books or watched the movies. It's just going to be so cool having something like WWoHP here.
