persuasive speech about disney?

Hey everyone, just thought I'd get the opinion of my fellow disers for something.

I'm taking a public speaking class, and I was thinking of doing my persuasive speech on taking a vacation to Disney World. I was wondering if this sounded like a good idea or not. Now, this is a college class, and I don't want to sound like a big goof when I get up there. It's just that Disney is something that I know a lot about and I really do think that people should be more open about taking a trip there, because we all know it's not just for little kids.

thanks for any suggestions. And I can handle it if you all think it's a bad idea. haha

I think that's a great idea. (:

I'm only a Junior , so I'm not the one that should be giving you advice on a college assignment. xD

Just make sure you conclude that, Disney isn't just for young children. All ages love it.

When I am 60 I'll still be going every year!

Disney IS where you feel that anything can happen and dreams come true. It may seem a little goofy, but any of these people that have been know exactly what that feeling is.

Like I said, I can't really help much.

I'm a great writer, I have to admit. I'd love to be a journalist or a magazine editor. I'm not near on a college level writing yet to help you though.

Sorry

i think it sounds like a great idea.

i would target the college audience (without a lot of disposable income) and talk about how to do disney "cheap" (a value, off season, free meal plan, etc)

i've never taken speech, but matt said he did his persuasive speech was "can 100 pirates beat 100 ninjas" and he made an a. lol

so no, you will not be goofy.

I think it sounds like a great idea. Definently target the college audience though like said above. Not only about it being cheap, but the fact that Disney is more than just rides. Most people that I know in college think disney is run down, and just for kids, & I go to college in Orlando. Make sure you emphasize the fact that disney is great for a weekend roadtrip(idk how far away you are?) or just something you can do after having been in the beach for a couple days.

Talk about the dining/shops/shows/thrill rides more than Its a Small World (even though I love IaSW...most college students dont ) Good luck

That reminded me of something.

My sister is a psychology major in college.

Well her and her boyfriend, and some friends went to see the midnight show of the last Pirates I think ?

Whatever it was it was real long, and they didn't end up getting out until almost three.

So she went back to her apartment and wrote her entire paper (which was due the next day, & she hadn't done ONE thing on it) in an hour and a half, tops.

She wrote it as if her, and her friends went out to dinner. And how she ordered everything backwards. (dessert, meal, appetizers, then drink) and how her friends, the waitress, and the people in the restaurant reacted.

I was like really... you came up with that within 15 minutes. lol

lol! thats funny.

(i took freshman level psychology when i was a senior in high school) and we had to do research projects. she told us this story about people who went to restaurants like mcdonalds, wendy's, and and places like that. they would order their food and go sit down at other people's tables, and their project was writing about how they reacted. i thought that was really neat.

That sounds like a great class and a great choice for the assignment. I myself have only been to Walt Disney World once in my life, but now since being there I realized there is so much more to Disney then the rides, shows, and characters. It is the whole experience. Walking down Main Street USA and seeing the Castle for the very first time. Like you said it doesn't matter how old you are there is something magical in seeing that. The smell of all the different types of foods. The shopping experiences are also part of it all. There are also many educational opportunities involved in a trip to Disney and my parents took advantage of showing me them 2 years ago when we went. They were all fun and interactive. There is a ton of stuff you could talk about when talking Disney. Good Luck with your project.

Well, I did my speech. I think I did great. I actually had someone say "wow...that was great" when I finished. That's never happened before. Needless to say, I was thrilled. haha

This might not be the most exciting thing ever, talking about school stuff usually isn't, haha. But public speaking just isn't my thing, never has been. So when I got a compliment like that, it just made me feel great.

Thanks again for helping me out guys. I'm glad I can count on my dis friends when I need them.
