Taking DD for her Bday !!

Hi everyone !! We are so excited to be taking our first trip to Disneyland. We have been to WDW several times and have always wanted to experience DL.

My dd7 wanted to go for her bday this year and since my hubby is deployed I thought it would be a great way for her to celebrate her day.

I have booked 4 nights at Hojo and we will spend 3 days in the parks. Our plane arrives around noon and I was thinking that once we get checked in that we could head over to DTD and check things out and perhaps eat at RFC.

I was hoping that maybe you guys could help with any tips or suggestions for things that we shouldn't miss while there.

Has anyone done the Pat E. Cake party? and if so did you like it? And the Fantasmic seating? I was thinking this would be a good thing to book since we haven't even seen the show at WDW ( I know, I know, some think we are crazy, lol) Does each person in your party get a dessert box? or do you share?

Oh and also... we will be there mid December.... what is the weather like? jackets all day or only in the evenings?

Thank you guys so much !! I have already learned a lot from just reading posts.... like how great Hojo's is and to definitely eat at MiMi's

Well, after you go to DTD and have lunch, I would stroll around the DLH grounds, maybe drive the Jungle Cruise boats.

I have not heard good things about the Pat E Cake celebration.

The Fantasmic seating is well spoken of, but depending on the time, would not likely work for my 7 year old. Too late, and also too scary!
I love the show though.

We love Minnie and Friends at The Plaza for breakfast.

December can be unpredictable. You need to come prepared for warm temps in the daytime but cold at night, like needing hat, scarf and gloves. Layers work well.

Have a wonderful trip!

Tracey

That sounds really special for her. Maybe she'd like to go to the bibbidy bobbidy boutique to get her hair done for her big day

Thanks you guys !!

I think I will look into BBB instead of PatECake and Fantasmic. I think she will like that better than a party, and possibly being scared to death. We could still watch it and if it gets to be too late or scary then we can leave without feeling like we paid for nothing.

We are making PS's for Goofy's and Cafe Orlean's, but I think I"ll see if she wants to do Minnie's breakfast too.

I'm glad to hear that we'll also be able to enjoy the holiday decorations in cooler weather.

Maybe she would enjoy going to lunch/dinner at Ariel's Grotto in DCA. That is where we are taking my DD for her 8th B-day dinner in November. In fact she and her sister are going to BBB before our PS at Ariel's, so they can be all dolled up to meet the Princesses.

yah I ran that one by her because I wanted to eat there after some of the yummy pics I saw and she shot me down, lol !! I think I have "princessed" her out because we have eaten in the castle every time we go to DW. I'm going to keep trying though since we still have a while before being able to make PS/ADR's.

Are you going to post pics when you get back? maybe I could convince her to go if she saw more girls her age doing it

I don't know about posting pictures. Not comfortable posting pictures of my children on a public forum but I could PM you some. My daughter has told me for awhile now that she is "not into princesses" but as soon as she heard about Ariel's and BBB and meeting the princesses, she was suddenly back into it. Her younger sister (4 years old) is definately into it. This is also their first trip to a Disney park, so everything is very exciting for them.

I totally understand about posting pics, no problem. I asked her about it again this afternoon and I think I just need to come to grips with the fact that she isn't my baby anymore, LOL !!
