I am trying to be patient with my husband but...

I leave for WDW in 12 days and I need a new camera. Our current camera works but it is 10 years old and huge. I have physical limitations with regard to the weight I can carry and I cannot drag the dinosaur of a camera around with the other things I need. DH is not coming to WDW so he can't be the pack mule.

DH has been 'looking' at cameras for well over 3 years now. He ordered one 6 weeks ago through Sears but there was an issue so he canceled it. He did nothing to look for another one.

I told him if I don't have it in hand by 9/26 am just going to Best buy and get the camera, because I would like to have a week to figure it out and use it a bit before going to WDW. We have the camera picked out and we both like it. Now it is just a matter of him getting the best deal which means maybe $20 off. The camera is only $130.

I hate giving him ultimatums but he takes sooooooo long to follow through with things and most of the time he just never does unless I am nagging him.

I know he'll order one a the last minute and which is why I was specific about it being in hand and not just on it's way.

Yes, agree with this. The more time you have with your camera before the trip the better.

Why did you leave it up to him anyway? If you wanted the camera, why didn't you do research online and pick the one you wanted?

I did. I picked out the camera and did the research and he likes it too. Since we both will be using it for the next decade his opinion matters. It is just the actual purchasing. I picked out what I wanted he just wants to make sure he is getting the best deal. He has learned that I will take action if he doesn't but I hate being put in the postition.

If it were something only I would use it would already be here.

Watch out, this is where the sharks attach....

Anyway - there are certain things that I'm in charge of in our house, and there are certian things that DH is incharge of in our house. When we went to Disney last time, DH decided that we needed a new camera too. He was in change of that. To me, he took forever to pick one out and find the best deal, but he finally did, and in plenty of time to practice with it, and figure it out. I agree, get yourself to Best Buy or wherever, and just get the one you two have decided on. Good luck, and have a great vacation!!

Is he actively working on it or putting it off?

If he's putting it off, you have way more patience than I. I would have bought it long before now.

Go buy it today. Too bad for him.

Just go buy the camera. You said he likes it right?

I can't imagine using the same camera for 10 years. The technology will be woefully outdated but whatever.

I wouldn't be messing with all this back and forth to save a few dollars on an already inexpensive camera. The time and stress isn't worth it.

I find B&H tends to have the best prices on cameras if you want a quick place to order it from.

Neither one of us is that much into picture taking but we do like to occassionally.

DH just works so much and overestimates the time he has and underestimates the time he takes. He does put things off but yesterday he asked what day it was that I wanted the camera by, so he is aware. His taking forever is a household joke.

He knows I will just get it if it comes to that and I know he would rather shop around until the end of time. I just hate always waiting for him to get around to doing it, but I hate having to force him even more. Honestly this is the biggest issue in our house. We only fight about how long it takes for him the feel comfortable moving forward with buying certain things.

It doesn't matter what it is shoes, pants.. or anything. I tell him he pretends to shop. It is quite funny but really annoying sometimes.

I would just buy it. You have both agreed as to the camera. He is too busy to buy it, you are not.

ITA with this. I hate waiting for DH to get things done. I usually ask him once, maybe twice, if it's still not taken care of, I just do it myself. The only problem is that he gets upset because I didn't wait for him! Ya just can't win.

I think since he is not going he is probably not feeling the urgency like you are. Tell him that we are going out to get it together today.

My word, we are married to the same man! My DH...when given the task of making a major purchase (like over $50 )....will shop, research, analyze, shop, research, analyze, over and over for MONTHS, no lie. Let's just say that buying a car with him is a living *heck* that I avoid at all costs. I have learned that if I don't absolutely NEED his help buying something (as I did with DS's guitar) and as long as it's not a huge expense, I don't even mention it to him, I just buy it.
