Has anyone ordered a special cake at the DLR?
I know on the WDW thread, there are pics and discussions of gorgeous cakes people have ordered. Is there a thread like that on this DL board? I would love to see pics and get ideas for ordering a special cake. Thanks much!

I just read the cake thread (yes, the whole thing!) and was still somewhat unclear on a couple of items. This is what I found:
Cakes can be ordered through Vacation Planners (if staying on-site) -or- Cakes can be ordered through Disney Dining (anyone can order) Cakes from Vacation Planners (if you are staying on-site) can be delivered to your hotel room or to Disney Hotel restaurant. They cannot be delivered to the restaurant's in the parks. Cakes from Disney Dining can be delivered to a Disney Hotel Restaurant. Individual cakes can be ordered at the park restaurants. My impression from looking at the photos of the cakes was that the Vacation Planning cakes were much more elaborate and could have type of flavors and deocrations specified by the customer and the cakes from Disney Dining were much more basic and other than flavors, the customer was given very limited control over type of decorations. Does this sound about right to people who have ordered cakes? Please correct anything I got wrong!

Is Disney Dining the same people you make PS through? You can only get them delived to the DLR hotels, or any DL dining spot?

In the parks, they will sell you celebration cakes (which I read are not very good).

We have ordered cakes from Vacation Planning and Disney Dining and found them to be wonderful.
We have had them delivered to our hotel rooms at the DL Resort several times and there were 2 times we had one delivered to Goofy's Kitchen. I am going to go through my pictures and see what I can find and then upload a few more here and on the cake thread so you can see. We loved them!!! Oh and they also do specialty cakes and what I mean by that is there were 2 times we ordered a Gluten Free cake to be done and it was fantastic!!! As a matter of fact I think I will call DD today and order one to be delivered to the GCH for our upcoming trip!!!! Woo hoo

Hey a fellow Sacramento Disboarder! I live in the area too & haven't seen too many on these boards. My DH graduated in 1987 too & I have an almost 6 year old as well. Lots in common! Thank you so much for the cake info! I really appreciate your help! |
