Really nervous, please help me. :(
Alright, now I know disney has a huge thing with the gay community (my brother freaks out whenever we used to go to it a few years back, he's gay)
But i've never really thought about it untill now... do you guys/gals get awkward looks and or annoying comments if you go to the theme parks with your lovers/friends who are gay as well? I'm asking this because well, I am a young adult, i'm Bi-Sexual (I guess i'm still in the "closet", haven't told my parents at all) and will be going to DLR/DCA with my boyfriend for his birthday/our first date. I'm very shy about these things and tend to get a bit annoyed over the smallest things about people being rude. I just want him to be happy (he's more a girly type) and try to be as romantic/a gentleman as I can be. So if you any advice/tips about what to do/what not to do when at a park, please help. Many thanks!

If it helps---I've noticed a significant increase of gay couples in Disneyland these last few years who aren't afraid of showing it. Hand holding, cuddling, a gentle peck here and there. The point being that I think people feel "safe" there. There will always be ignorant jerks wherever you go but like others have said don't worry about them and have a great time!

I think that you should remember that outlandish behaviour, no matter who is doing it, is unacceptable. If you and your boyfriend want to hold hands, I doubt you will get more than a glance., If you want to play tonsil hockey, you make get some rude stares. Not because you are 2 males, but because it is not what people want to see, at DL or pretty much anywhere. I think you will be very comfortable in the parks, most people are too wrapped up in having their own fun to notice much around them anyway. Go and have fun. As a pp said, you will always find some jerk who takes exception pretty much everywhere. Don't let their small mindedness spoil your day.

Thanks alot guys, and no i'm not really gonna be doing some "tonsil hockey" maybe one little peck here and there, but the most will be hand holding/that holding them from behind that most couples do.
So thanks once again, now i'm getting less and less nervous from reading your replies. :D |

You'll be fine.
Do however be a bit alert (not paranoid, just alert) and if you get any odd vibes, follow your gut. Not to be overly dramatic, and I can't imagine anything really nasty happening on property, but you don't want to have any creeps acting stupid off property either. Take care now and have a great time!

I really dont think its been any sort of issue for at least the past 10 years at any Disney park!
Tonsil hockey is gross! No matter who is doing it! A peck on the cheek and hand holding wont even get ya noticed anymore! ![]() And ya get some great service from the Cast Members if ya have one of those rainbow Mickey pins on! |

What they all said!
Just have fun when you go and remember that you are sharing a special place with a special person. Not sure when you are going, but Gay Days Anahem is the first weekend in October. If you want to make sure you are around people "in the same boat" then cruise on over for the weekend.

I would LOVE to go to DLR on those gay days, but he's a week or 2 after that, maybe we can plan something for next year... if it works out.
![]() Also, where can we get those rainbow pins? Or was it some joke? o.o I also would like to know if adding a "first visit pin" and a "birthday" pin on a 20 year old will get him special treatment as it does to the younger kids? I just want him to remember it and have a blast with all the characters he loves.

hey, I have both of those pins on my lanyard too. Great minds think alike!
Absolutely get both the birthday and first time buttons and have him wear them proudly. You never know what type of magic they will bring you and at worse, he will have tons of people wishing him Happy Birthday!
