Carnation Cafe or Cafe Orleans???
We've eaten at Carnation Cafe, but not at Cafe Orleans.
What are the pros and cons? We have DD8 and DS6 along with DH and I. We leave in a week and are so excited! Thanks for all of your "expert" advice in advance!

BOTH!! Those are two of our favorites. We ate at Carnation Cafe twice on our last trip. When you did CC, did you do breakfast or lunch? If you did lunch, maybe change it up this time and do breakfast. Both are fantastic. We love Cafe Orleans....we love to sit outside and people watch and sometimes catch the entertainers as they come by. Sorry I can't remember the name of the group that comes by. Make sure you order some biegnets Have fun!

My vote is for carnation cafe. I like Cafe orleans but I have a harder time finding food that sounds good to me. The pros of CC are that it's cheaper and has food that might appeal more to kids (although I don't know what's on the kids menu at CO so maybe they have lots of good things for kids there too). Carnation Cafe is smaller but if you get PS it shouldn't be a problem. Not sure when you're going but if it's hot outside then I think CO is cooler and shadier than CC. Oh another pro of CC is you get to see Oscar!
Hope that helps! |

When you see Oscar ask him for the recipe for the loaded baked potato soup...he'll sign a copy for you

I really like both, though I think Carnation Cafe is a lot less expensive than Cafe Orleans.

Well, the ratatouille at CO was incredible, while the veggie sandwich at CC was just fairly good, so CO wins for us.
But I think for either place, we'd be feeding DS elsewhere, b/c he doesn't eat the kid's meals anywhere but plaza inn, really (the Uncrustables sandwiches, or smuckers jelly, have corn syrup and/or high fructose corn syrup which he canNOT have, and we're vegetarian)... We don't always all eat at the same time...or at least we don't force ourselves to all eat at the same time, when at Disney!

I'll vote for both as we always enjoy our breakfast at CC and the monte cristo and pommes frittes were both really good when we went CO for the first time in March. If I had to only choose one, Carnation would be it.

If you're going for food, Cafe New Orleans, hands down. I love the Monte Cristo and there's a lot of things to see sitting outside. My favorite experience has to be Sally (on her way for pictures outside the mansion) being super fascinated with my friend's Mint Julep and Jack contributing his "expert" opinion.
![]() I've always thought the food at Carnation Cafe was too bland. We ate there once and never went back.

i love CO. The monte cristo is to die for! I have not eaten at CC yet, but I have it slotted in for breakfast and lunch on my next trip.
P.S. I will see you there!

Another vote for both! We were just there Friday and did Cafe Orleans for lunch and Carnation for dinner.

Oooh Both!! We did Carnation for breakfast last time and it was so good. The chef was out walking around talking to everyone and he even gave us the recipe for the yummy Baked Potato soup, he even signed it for us. Was a really nice treat. CO is awesome too, never had a bad meal there.

I'd say both as well. We've been going to Carnation Cafe since I was a kid, it's always been a favorite for lunch. But this last trip we decided to go for breakfast and then proceeded to have breakfast the next 4 mornings...we liked it to say the least
We did Cafe Orleans for dinner and it was lovely. The Monte Cristo can be shared for sure...talk about rich. My 4 yr old DD slept through the dinner so I'm not sure she would have been happy with the choices, but she's a picky one. The 2 yr old was happy to eat off everyone's plate and tried to polish off the pomme frittes herself ![]() Enjoy! |
