My Cat. 6 room will now be a Cat. 5C!?!

Sheesh! I always appreciated how DCL seemed to put themselves "above the fray" of other cruiselines, but I knew I was paying a little more to not have to deal with the nit picky stuff.

Well, great. Now with the majority of the staterooms being reclassified, we are going to have to pick a room based on price not so much location?

And even though we are booking our fourth cruise, we are "silver status" and don't get the onboard Castaway Club party anymore? I get adding to the benefits of frequent cruisers... but why take away benefits? I will be curious if the stateroom gift for us "silvers" will be less too.

What's next... no more free drink station? I know, let's price a drink card based on the Castaway Club tiers!

Ok, just ranting a bit... I will still cruise DCL... and maybe that's the reason they know they'll get away with changes, but I as the kids get older, if they become more and more like RCCL, then we just might pick the ship that is mouse free!

I think we're all going to be in shock for awhile adjusting to the new categories. Oh well....

As to the CC reception, you aren't missing much. It used to be a big deal years ago, but as the numbers grew, the quality greatly diminished. I'm hoping that the lesser numbers will once again mean better quality at the reception.

The free beverage station has become one of those things that sets DCL apart. I guess everything is negotiable, especially with a new man in charge. A former DCL exec told me that the beverage station cost them $1 million per year in lost revenue from what people spent on the mug program and buying sodas!

Let the games begin. So not only paying more, but get out those nickels and dimes.

I am beginning to look into the new categories, so I don't know much about the differences yet. Will it be like Carnival with all those different letters?

Where did you see that your category 6 was to be reclassified as a 5C? When I look at the disney website it appears to me that the Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Veranda (cats 5 & 6) is the only one not being re-classified.

Also some old Cat 5's are now 6A's. Everything is all mixed up. You don't have to change your plans too much, just move a couple doors down!

Not really, current Cat 5 and 6 cabins have now been divided into Cat 5A, 5B, 5C, and 6A

Looks like 6A is now just all the solid wall verandah cabins.

Like the OP, you'll have to upgrade (and likely "up pay") and book one of the Cat 5 subcategories in order to get most current Cat 6 cabins.

Oh what a pain! For one who's never cared about specific cabin numbers but only category and general area of the ship, this is just plain YUCKY.

I agree! I guess I'll just have to downgrade my expectations to "just get me on the boat!"

So if we have sailed 2 now with DCL the 3rd time will be in Jan. What category do we fall in and I am I understanding that we will not be invited to the CC meet&greet?

Where can we find a list of the benefits of the new tier system?

So what did they do with the old "secret verandah" cabins? Are those now in the Navigators category? I wonder why they skipped over Cat 8's??

So if I read the plans correctly, then there are no more "Secret Porthole" Rooms either. Looks like those are classified the same as the rest of the cabins in that area. Bummer.
