Would you wait for MK addition to be complete before going back?

I was planning a trip for late next year and was wondering what trouble this will cause for a trip to MK? What will be open or closed ride wise? Will the crowds be redirected and make the rest of the park unbearable? We have only been once to Disney in April 07 and have never been during a major refurbish, If anyone has would they recommend waiting till finished? Keep in mind I have 2 girls that are princess crazy that will be 8 and 4 next year, with the cost of going to Disney it is not an every year trip for us, We had planned to go back this year but it did not work out, with the announcement of the new princess attractions I know my girls would love it but I am worried about my oldest out growing her love for princess before it is finished, this may sound dumb to some people but I know there is a small window of time in a kids life where the magic is truly special and I don't want to miss that chance, any input would be appreciated.

We've never visited during a major refurb., but I certainly wouldn't let it stop me from going (or waiting until it's finished).

In this specific case, the only things that are going to be closed are TT (and Dumbo, when it's being moved).

There will still be plenty of princesses to meet in other places (like Epcot), and the only actual ride in TT is the Barnstormer.

It's not like the major (existing) rides in FL are all going to be closed. I doubt the MK will be *that* much more crowded just 'cause TT is closed....

Most of the work is being done in an area of MK that is currently "backstage" and they are saying there won't be any closures until late 2010. I wouldn't wait. . . your girls will never be too old to enjoy going, but you are right about the magic. There is plenty of princess stuff to do now, Bibity Bobbity Boutique, eating at Cinderella's Royal Table, princess breakfast at Norway, story time with Belle, etc. . . .

Your question is hard to answer because the last major in-park construction like this was probably Splash Mountain.

My guess though - generally they will avoid closing down any of the other rides. However, Disney does NOT like people seeing thier construction. At some point, they will likely build a WALL from the entrance of toon town, across through Dumbo, (Possibly leaving the old Dumbo in place for a while?) and over to outside Pinnochio's Village Haus. This will likely make FL a royal pain (pardon the princess pun) to walk around in, it likely won't afect any of the other rides.

Seeing as the first portion of the addition isn't scheduled to open for close to 3 years - I'm assuming by spring 2012 - I would not put off a trip at this stage just to see the additions. Remember, you are talking about a few new things compared to the hundreds of things to do that are already there.

I would go ahead with my plans, we are thinking of going back for DD's graduation trip which will be May 2012, so I don't know how far along the refurb will be, but we will still be there. (may go back before then, but who knows)

That's a very good question. One I've been wondering myself. We normally make the trip every other year. We usually go early in the year because for one, summers are too crowded and too hot. There are also too many conflicts for us in the fall and winter. We went this past April and were planning our next trip for early 2011. If the new addition will not be open then, we will more than likely wait until 2012, or 2013 before our next trip. So I guess the answer will be yes for us. We're not worried about the construction part, but would hate to make a trip and miss out on the new additions to the park.

I think we are in the same boat - it is not the construction, it is the money to plan 2 trips instead of waiting a year and having one!!

We were planning 2011, but now I am thinking 2012 might be better - all that princess stuff in one place!! WOW!! Also, my family was considering a Grand Gathering, but since I have 1 brand new neice, they want to wait until she is 3 - so then again it is 2012. I think we might just wait.....

Very well put....that is exactly how I am looking at it. We will probably have a couple of trips under our belt before the refurb is done. There are so many places to see the princesses besides Fantasyland. I wouldn't worry too much about it. From what I have read, most of the construction is going to be taken place behind where Pooh's Playful Spot and Aeriel's Grotto is, with the exception of when they are going to move Dumbo and when they are going to combine/replace ToonTown....but I think another pp had mentioned that already. Go have fun

Sorry if this has been asked a million times before, but where can I see/read information about the new "princess land" or whatever it is going to be? I see lots of threads talking about it, but I don't know what "it" is! Thanks!

Heck no! We've got a trip coming up in November, and another already booked for Feb. 2010. Wouldn't dream of rescheduling either one. And besides, there's more to WDW than just MK.

For us it won't stop us from going back, hopefully DH and I in late January 2010. Then I guess we will have to go back and check out what is going on and then when it is complete. Just more reasons to go back.

I wonder if there will be a big celebration for the completion of the additions and the 40th Anniversary of WDW?
