Maybe it's some kind of outreach thing with one of the local churches? Like the ministry has encouraged members to remind people that they are loved?

DH and I were getting our driveway redone a few years ago. We had a contractor out to look at it, and we were all discussing what to do. DH and I started to dissagree about what should be done, but not yelling or arguing or anything, just talking, and this guy (whom we never me) out of nowhere says "I'm going to pray for you two." I was like excuse me??? Thats not something you hear to often (at least I don't tell people that I'm going to "pray for them" because they are having a discussion with their spouce) and it really cought me off guard. I'm sure these people who said it to you ment it in the nicest way, but for people who aren't used to hearing that, or just don't expect it, its kind of..... strange and upsetting. Like, "Do you know something I don't know????" LOL

I always say "Thanks, why do you say that?" when I get that type of stuff.....it always catches me off guard.

Actually I just ignored them..I wasn't afraid of them, but they weren't your normal "suit-and-tie" evangelists, neither one of them looked quite "right". I haven't heard this from someone in years, so I thought it was weird that I heard it in two unrelated instances within an hour of each other.

I don't care what kind of an "outreach" program a church has, I think it's so out of line to say that to people. And I'm a church-going Christian! Imagine how atheists feel about that type of comment.

No plans for our next visit, it will be 2011 or 2012 before we head back. We've had fun DLR/DCA, we will miss you while we are gone. We took 14 trips from July 07-July 08 and around 16 from Jan 09-Jan 10.
