Question Mama Melrose or Tutto Italia for Good Friday dinner ?

We like Coral Reef - but with the new 90 day ADR window opening up on 10/27/09, we may not be able to get dinner at Coral Reef on Good Friday.

What about Mama Melrose in DHS for Good Friday dinner ?

Does Mama Melrose have NY style pizza ?

How is the Penne Alla Vodka - with pancetta and sweet onion, finished with tomato basil sauce, cream, vodka and pecorino romano ? We would need to omit the pancetta - since it is pork (no meat on Good Friday) - I wonder if they could omit the onions too ?

Should we try Tutto Italia in EPCOT ?

How is the Sacchetti - pasta pillows filled with ricotta and mozzarella cheese and pomdoro sauce ?

Cannelloni al Forno - baked with spinach, ricotta, bechamel and parmesan cheese ?

And on the kids menu - Pizzetta - with mozzarella and tomatoes - Does it look like NY pizza ?

Please help - we have 1 month to decide where to eat before the ADR rush on 10/27/09

We truly miss the Spoodles Pizza Window

I voted for Mama Melrose. Haven't been to Tutto (on our list for our Nov. trip), but we absolutely loved Mama Melrose last year.

We had the Penne Alla Vodka and it was wonderful. The cream sauce was very tasty. I would certainly put it above your typical Italian places (Olive Garden, Macaronni Grill, etc.).

My wife got the Chicken Pippette. Another very nice dish. It had a good four cheese sauce.

For dessert we had the Honey Hazelnut and Ricotta Cheesecake. It had a yummy blood sauce.

Mama Melrose was a dining highlight of our May '08 trip. We're making it a point to schedule an ADR for it again in Nov. and want to keep it as one of our regulars.

It also helps that Hollywood Studios is my favorite park and we just loved the location of the restaurant. Tucked away by the Muppets 3D show. Great environment.

Thanks for the replies so far - Tutto Italia in EPCOT seems to be winning the poll - but no one said why they like Tutto Italia in EPCOT better.

Could someone tell me their favotite entrees to eat at Tutto Italia in EPCOT ?

We will be at Disney for Easter week as well. I had a question, what is the significance of the October 27 date?

Thanks.

October 27. 2009 starts the 180 day ADR allowance

Right now you have to wait 90 days before your arrival date to make your ADR's.

So for Easter week 2010, the 90 day mark would be the last week of Decmber 2009.

On October 27, 2009, WDW is changing the ADR day allowance back to the 180 day mark.

So for Easter week 2010, the 180 day mark is late September 2009.
When October 27th comes about on the calendar - anyone staying Easter week 2010 can make ALL their ADR's since on 10/27/09 is will be about the 150 day mark - well into the 180 day ADR allowance.

You can go to WDW online and to ADR's at 6:00 AM EST or you can call WDW at 7:00 AM EST to make your ADR requests.

10/27/09 will be a very busy day for ADR CM's at WDW.

I don't recall if Tutto has NY pizza. However, I wouldn't order pizza anyway. They have so many wonderful dishes to try.

I voted for Tutto, I like the food there better then at Mama's. I don't think Mama's is bad though, Tutto is just better.

Pooh2001, Thank you so much. I read these boards every day and still learn something new. I really can't thank you enough.

As to your original question, we really enjoyed Mama Melrose. Something to consider, I believe all restaurants vegetarian meals which may help on Good Friday.

Why would an authentic Italian place have NY style pizza? It's Tutto Italia, not Tutto Newyorkia...

Tutto is wonderful. Great meal. The canelloni al forno you asked about is amazing. As is the lasagna. I'd eat the coppeta sotto bosco for dessert 5-7 times per week (and twice on Sundays!)

I dined at Tutto at the end of June and the sacchetti was off the menu. I loved that dish and was disappointed it was gone. I did have the Canelloni al Forno and it was delicious. Also, my daughter did have the pizette. She liked it but prefered the farfalle in cream sauce they also offer the kids.

I also dined at Mama Melrose and had the Penne Alla Vodka. It was delicious.

Funny we seem to have the same taste in entrees!

Good luck deciding!

Anywhere BUT Mama Melrose. My sister ordered that dish when we were there in August and found it close to inedible. It was really nasty! My chicken parm was bad too. Service was even worse. Don't bother with MM!
