Getting nervous about Marrakesh ADR...

I made our ADRs yesterday, and since we wanted to try something different from our norm, I made an ADR for lunch at Marrakesh. But since then, I have read more recent reviews, and they are all BAD. Should I try to switch it to Rose & Crown? I may have a hard time doing that since it's part of the CP. Thoughts and opinions?

Personally this is how I feel about reviews. If I like the type of food that the restaurant is serving then I will go whether or not people on the forum like or hate it. Everyone's tastes are SO different. What I think is good may not be what you think is good and if I listened I may miss a very good meal.

Now I can't speak for the restaurant you are referring to because that type of food is NOT for me. I would automatically think YUCK. So on the off chance I would listen to DH (he does like that food) I would go and then be terribly disappointed that I had wasted a meal.

If you like that type of food, don't worry, go and see if you like it. If you don't then you will know for next time.
Believe me if you are on the boards here long enough you see haters of every restaurant. I have been searching and reading everyday for months!

FYI --- one of my cherished adrs this trip is Chef Mickey. We have no kids (yet) and have 3 character meals scheduled so it isn't for the characters, it is for the buffet. Yet there are tons of people that hate CM and wouldn't eat there if they were paid to do so (their quote not mine) but I am not listening to them. I am going and if I am sorry so be it, but I think since they serve food I like I will enjoy it.

The food here is probably quite different from what you are used to. I think it's very good, but I'm used to trying all kinds of ethnic foods. Most of the negative reviews are most likekly related to these differences. One of their offeringas is very similar to Greek Gyros. If you have tried that, and liked it, you'll be OK. Go to ALLEARS and look at the menu.
BTW, you'll find negative reviews of Rose & Crown, and every other Disney Restaurant. Don't let that stop you!

We love Marrakesh and my advice would be to keep the ADR. People are much more likely to post a negative review than a positive one and I learned long ago not to listen to them. Everyone's tastes are different. If you are interested in trying a restaurant then try it. Again, we love Marrakesh and have only had fantastic meals there.

Enjoy!

Marrakesh is one of our favorite restaurants in World Showcase. It is a beautiful restaurant, with warm friendly servers and good food. I am not overly adventursome about eating, but I like it alot.
I agree with PP. Everyones tastes are so very different. I don't listen to a lot of reviews. For example we do not love Yachtsman's Steakhouse and most DISer's do. If it appealed enough to make an ADR, I say go for it.
Have a Great Trip

My family enjoyed Marakesh. My husband liked it enough that he requested it for our next trip.
You will always find bad reviews for all the restaurants.

Thanks everyone. We wanted to try something different, but hopefully it's not so different that we don't like it. The menu appeals to us, as does the entertainment.

Seems like all the reviews of RM as of late were very poor, while RC reviews were looking good. Also, no one I know personally has eaten at RM, while several people I know give RC great praise. I think I will keep the ADR.

We did the CS there, I think it's called the Tangerine Cafe maybe. It was one of our favorite meals and we're going back next week. Haven't tried the TS part because we like the CS menu better. We've been trying to find Med food that good every where we go and can't find any place that even comes close.

I was in the same situation as you last year. I made the ressie for Marrakesh for DH and I only. I read reviews and got nervous but DH really wanted to try it. Then, we were at Guest services getting our boarding passes about an hour before our ADR. There was a big board in there with all the available ADRs. I still wanted to change but DH urged me to give it a try. Boy, am I glad he did! The food was great and the service was incredible. I don't think the kids would like it but if it were just DH and I would definitely make another ressie for there. In Dec, DH and I are going to get our lunch at Tangerine (the Moroccan CS) and then head somewhere to pick something up for the kids.

We loved Marrakesh! The lamb was to die for, My son loved the bellydancers (I didn't notice her) The only thing I DIDN'T like is that the waiter payed a little too much attention to my 16 yr old neice who was with us! that creeped me out!
