Need help with Minute-to-win-it game for DS9 birthday party

For DS8's birthday party this coming weekend we're doing an outdoor scavenger hunt and Minute-to-win-it games, but I need a little help with that last part. I've watch snippets of the game show here and there, enough to enjoy one or two of the challenges but never long enough to get into the rules or find out how you win.

I googled the game show rules and kind of have the idea but I was wondering if for a party for 8-9 year olds there might be slightly more simplified rules that might help the game to go quickly without getting too bogged down in the details. Anyone here done this for their kid's party and have any suggestions?

Also, for the scavenger hunt we are giving prizes only to the winning team so I was thinking for the Minute-to-win-it game we'll have enough prizes for everyone but maybe have the actual winner (winners? Is there a single winner or a winning team?) be able to pick their prizes first... Does that seem like a feasible idea?
