Speaking of sprinkles...

Anyone else call them jimmies? I suppose they won't know what I mean if I ask for jimmies on my ice cream at WDW.

I generally refer to jimmies as the chocolate ones and sprinkles for the multi-colored ones.

Yes! We called them jimmies as a kid. I've also lived in an area where they called them "shots." I usually say sprinkles now because that seems to be the most used around here.

Yes, jimmies is a New England thing...or possibly just MA. I grew up in Fairhaven, MA and chocolate sprinkles were always jimmies...I don't remember calling colored sprinkles anything..or even if they were an option I live in NC now, and my kids think I'm crazy when I call them jimmies. Makes me kind of homesick and sad.

I remember the first time I saw the word "jimmies" on an ice-cream store menu. I was like 7 and started crying because I didn't want "jimmies"...I wanted sprinkles! Even though they were the same thing, I was inconsolable and wouldn't have them on my ice cream.

Anyhooo...they are and always will be "sprinkles" to me.

I call them sprinkles but have heard people call them jimmies before. I also know people (mostly elderly) that refer to paperclips as jimmies. I don't care what I have to call them to get the delicious multi-colored goodness!

By the way I hate when I go to Busch Gardens to get ice cream (which is fairly often) and I don't know how to refer to the multi-colored sprinkles cause they have the chocolate ones too. I once asked for the colored ones and got the chocolate ones. So now I end up saying "Those multi-colored ones over there. No, the ones to the right. The rainbow ones. No, the other jar"
